Watching my girls play together is one of my favourite things about having two children. Like all siblings, they have their moments of bickering and squabbling, but on the whole, they play together beautifully. Jessica still tends to take the lead when it comes to small world and imaginative play, but they are becoming more equal partners in play which is lovely to see.
They love their Playmobil sets and will happily spend hours sitting at the table making up stories with “Rose” and “Charlotte” the Playmobil fairy dolls. I think the other Playmobil people also have names too but these are the ones I hear most often. Charlotte seems to be the naughty one – I often hear Jessica saying “Charlotte, go and sit on the stairs!” Oh the joys of hearing yourself echoed back when your children play!
Now that Sophie is at preschool, playing schools with their toys is also becoming a favourite. I love seeing the way Jessica sets up all the toys in front of her and gives a lesson to them. She doesn’t tend to tell me very much about what she does at school and this is a great way of getting more information about it!
Jessica (5 years 8 months)
- Has gone up another level with her reading and received her gold reading raccoon certificate for reading 100 books.
- Received her one year badge at Girls’ Brigade.
- Enjoyed taking part in her Girls’ Brigade sports day and managed to come third in the obstacle race.
- Is starting to tire more on longer walks and has now got a special-needs buggy to help with this.
- Loves being able to wear her summer dress now at school.
- Had fun learning how to spin thread at an Elizabethan-themed day at Chiltern Open Air Museum.
Sophie (3 years 6 months)
- Is enjoying being back at Tiny Talk toddler signing classes.
- Has surprised me a couple of times with things I didn’t know she could do. She wrote the numbers 1 – 5 on a piece of paper whilst drawing one day. The next day, she drew a picture of a lolly and wrote “pop” next to it – “lollipop”
- Is very good at problem solving and finding ways of doing things that she wants, e.g. closing the curtains in the lounge, turning on the light etc.
- Has been enjoying going for walks with Mummy and exploring some of the local footpaths.
- Has been treating Mummy and Daddy to some mini dance shows and showing off what she has been learning in ballet.
- Enjoyed joining in with some Elizabethan dancing on a day out at Chiltern Open Air Museum.
Aww they always look so so sweet together and well done on the number writing and the 100 books and the mini dance shows sound fab!
Thank you – they are lovely together (most of the time!) 🙂
Your daughters seem so loving to one another, it’s beautiful to see. 🙂
Thank you Sarah, they are lovely together on the whole 🙂
Oh yes, my two love playing schools, too, and I love listening in when they do so. I love their smiley faces on all of the photos, especially that bench shot, just gorgeous x
Thank you Jocelyn. It is so lovely to listen in to their imaginative play 🙂
My girls play schools a lot too, Alice just loves to be teacher. I wouldn’t be surprised if this is what she ends up becoming. Does Sophie start school this September or next September? I love that last photo, just gorgeous x
Thank you Laura. I love that Alice enjoys playing teacher too! Sophie starts school next September so I have another year with her x
Gorgeous girls. What lovely pictures and lovely to read about what they’re up to xxx
Thank you Caroline, I love looking back over each month and thinking about what the girls have done 🙂
Always love seeing your #siblingsproject pictures as the girls always have such lovely smiles and show such affection for each other.
Thank you so much. They do have a lovely bond 🙂
