From the mouths of babes is a weekly linky which invites you to share a post, old or new, about something your children have said. Those adorable mispronounced words, the glimpses into their imaginations, the blunt observations – whatever it is, I’d love to hear about it!
Thank you to everyone who linked up last week. A warm welcome to The Next Best Thing to Mummy who linked up for the first time. I loved her Children Say the Funniest Things post sharing an insight into how to put leaves back on the trees and where strawberry milkshake comes from.
We found out last week that Jessica has been put forward for her next open-heart surgery. I had a little chat with her towards the end of the week about having to go back into hospital again. I told her that the doctors would be making her special heart better so she could have more energy to run around with Sophie. Last year, she had a general anaesthetic for a cardiac catheter procedure so I explained that it would be similar to that – she would have some “sleepy milk” in her arm and then have a little sleep while the doctors made her heart better.
Jessica had one big worry:
“Will I have to have stickers on my chest?” (she hates having stickers put on her chest when she has an ECG)
“Yes.”
“Will you have magic wipes?” (adhesive remover wipes)
“Yes.”
“That’s okay then,” she said, and happily went back to playing with her toys.
Bless her. If only ECG stickers were going to be the worst of it. I’m sure we’ll chat more about it when we get closer to the op (we’re still waiting for a date). In the meantime, I’m putting together a book for her which will hopefully help explain things too.
If you have any posts about something that your children have been saying lately, please do come and link up. The linky opens each Monday from 6am and closes on Friday at 11pm so there is plenty of time to link up your posts (old and new posts are welcome!). Please add the badge below to your post so others know where they can also link up (the badge code is below). I will also try and share posts via Twitter – please use the hashtag #ftmob and I’ll do my best to retweet them. I also have a Pinterest board and will be sharing posts here too.
Looking forward to reading what your little ones have been saying!
I really do hope everything goes well for her.
Thank you so much Helena.
