Going to see In the Night Garden Live in Richmond has become a bit of a family tradition over the last few years. We first saw it four years ago and as Jessica loved it so much, we’ve come back every year since. Our trip to see the show has often been on Fathers’ Day. It’s a lovely family afternoon out and the girls have always enjoyed seeing the show.
As lovely as it is though, we know that it’s something that we know the girls will outgrow very soon. Neither of them really watch In the Night Garden on TV anymore. They still love the live show but Jessica was certainly more restless while watching it this year. I suspect she has really outgrown it even if she won’t admit to it. Sophie was much more excited about seeing all the different characters on stage and joining in with the songs though.
Meeting the characters afterwards is still fun for both the girls though. It was lovely to see the way they just ran up to Igglepiggle and Upsy Daisy and gave them the biggest hug. Jessica was just as excited as Sophie was. It was nice to know that some of the magic was still there!
This month has been a busy one for both hubby and myself on the work front. I’m lucky that I can mostly work from home although I’ve needed to go into the office more than usual lately. Thankfully hubby’s parents live nearby and have been able to cover childcare when needed. Times like this make family moments even more precious.
I’m also more acutely aware than ever at this time of year of how quickly the time is passing. Jessica’s first year at school is nearly over. I can’t quite believe that we are thinking about Year 1 already. As much as I’m looking forward to having my big girl home for the summer holidays, there is also a feeling of sadness at the thought of saying goodbye to her reception teacher and the end of this particular era in Jessica’s life. I’ve been holding both my girls a bit closer and cherishing the fact that they are still both little. This last year has gone by quickly. It’s reminded me of the importance of making the most of these precious childhood moments. One day I will miss them.
We took Alice to see In The night Garden a few years ago and she loved it. Holly isn’t really into it, so in a couple of weeks we are taking them to the Ben and Holly show as they love it. I love these photos of you all and it’s always a bit sad when you know they are growing out of things. x #meandmineproject
Thanks Laura. It is sad when they outgrown things. Ben and Holly sounds fun – hope your girls enjoy it 🙂
ah such a cute moment to capture x
Thank you Laura 🙂
Lovely photos with the ITNG characters. I must admit it’s one programme I turn off as soon as it comes on but I can see the appeal for kids. My daughter still knows the characters and would be happy to meet them like your girls. You’ll have to find a new show to take them to each year as a tradition! #meandmineproject
Thank you. I’m sure we’ll start a new tradition to replace it! 🙂
I love that there was still enough magic to make it wonderful – and I’m loving the additions to your family in the pictures! What a lovely way to celebrate
Thanks Carie. It was lovely that the magic was still there even if they are outgrowing it 🙂
I love that feeling of magic! Something about living it through your children makes it ever more magical. Beautiful photo’s x
Thanks Gemma. I love seeing the world through the eyes of my children 🙂
These are so cute! I love the sound of the Night Garden shows – I’m a bit sad that Max isn’t into it anymore, as they tend to be in smaller venues than things like the Paw Patrol ones that they’re advertising at the moment, which I think would just intimidate him. There’s always something special about a live show – I love that even though Jessica has outgrown it, it brought all the magic back for her.
Thank you Katy. It was lovely that the magic was still there 🙂
