September was quite an intense month with everything that was going on. It’s an emotional rollercoaster of a month anyway, with back to school and Jessica’s birthday. Back-to-school was even more emotional this year with Thomas’s first day of school falling on what would have been Jessica’s 11th birthday. I can imagine what a proud big sister she would have been with her baby brother starting off school, and the three of them going off to school each day together.
We’ve been settling into the new normal of having two children at school and getting to grips with keeping track of two sets of PE days and school calendars. The house has felt very quiet during the day but it has also been good to be able to focus on work and everything else I need to do and not have to squeeze things in to small windows of time when Sophie and Thomas are either asleep or occupied.
It’s just as well I’ve had that time to focus as our church celebrated its 50th anniversary at the end of the month with a full-on weekend of activities which kept me very busy especially with the publicity side of things. My husband was also very busy with work so there was the usual adjusting to periods of flying solo while he was away.
I honestly thought that once Sophie and Thomas were at school, I’d have a little more time to keep up with the blog but once again I’m a bit late with my Me and Mine post! September has been a whirlwind of activities and emotions, but we’ve had some nice family moments too. Morning snuggles before getting ready for school, pillow fights at bedtime, quiet moments of remembering Jessica, trips to the park, time spent with grandparents and all the little moments in amongst the activity of everyday family life. Hopefully October will be a little less crazy.
