Friday Focus 09/07/21 – Transition

09/07/202108/07/2021
The word 'transition'

The end of the summer term is a time of transition. Sophie’s time at infant school is drawing to a close. This time next week will be her last day there. I’m feeling quite emotional about my baby girl moving on from this step; acutely aware of all the little last moments of her infant… Read More

Disclaimer: I received a copy of ‘There’s No Deer Around Here’ for the purposes of this review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.   ‘There’s No Deer Around Here’ by Andy Hussey and Rosie Venner tells the story of Jacob, who wants to find out what has been eating the vegetables that he and… Read More

03/07/202106/07/2021
A smiley Jessica sitting in a tree

Today is National Bereaved Parents Day which aims to raise awareness of all parents who have lost a child of any age, and from any circumstance. The theme this year is ‘Keeping Their Memory Alive’. As a bereaved parent, one of the most important things to me is to be able to talk about Jessica,… Read More

Jessica standing in front of a tree looking out over a big branch - "Country Kids"

Welcome back to Country Kids. How are we in July already?! We really enjoyed joining in with #30DaysWild during June and while this particular challenge has ended for another year, we’ll still continue to enjoy getting out and taking a closer look at the world around us. Did you join in with #30DaysWild this year?… Read More

Friday Focus 02/07/21 – Words

02/07/202103/07/2021
The word 'words' spelled out in colourful wooden blocks

Thomas has been amazing us with his grasp of words this week. His latest favourite thing to do is to spell out words that he’s seen around him using his letter blocks or magnetic letters. It’s him memorising sequences of letters rather than being able to read them but I’m still very impressed with it.… Read More

#30DaysWild 2021 – Week 4

01/07/202105/07/2021
Sophie holding a buff tip moth, a white ermine moth and two dark arches moths

Our fifth #30DaysWild has now come to an end. We’ve enjoyed joining in again. As with previous years, it’s encouraged us to take a closer look and we’ve learned new things as a result. Sophie particularly enjoyed getting to camp out in the garden and my ability to identify wildflowers and the different birds visiting… Read More

Me and Mine – June 2021

30/06/202130/06/2021
Me, hubby, Sophie and Thomas (asleep in his buggy) at Jessica's forever bed

It’s been nice to be able to enjoy more of a feeling of normality again this month. We had Nanny come to stay for a weekend, and our first night out without the children in about two years. I’m back to having periods of flying solo while hubby is away (definitely didn’t miss that one!)… Read More
