Word of the Week 23/05/14 – Family

This week’s word of the week is:

The word "family"We’ve been spending quite a lot of time with various family members over the last week. My mum came down to stay for a few days and spend some time with the girls. Nanny is full of fun and can be quite silly which the girls loved. I don’t think I have ever heard them laugh so much as they have done over the last few days. We took my mum home on Tuesday and spent a couple of days staying with her and catching up with various other members of the family. I’m from a very large family (being the youngest of nine). Most of my extended family still lives very close to where I grew up. The girls have plenty of aunties, uncles and cousins to catch up with whenever we go back to see my mum.

It was especially lovely to spend the evening with my twin sister. She is known as Auntie Fizz as Jessica got confused and thought that I was saying ‘Auntie Tweenies’ instead of ‘Auntie Twinny’ one day. As Fizz is her favourite character, Auntie Twinny became Auntie Fizz. My twin has two little girls aged eight and ten who adore Jessica and Sophie. It was lovely to see the four of them all snuggled together in their pyjamas and enjoying a story at bedtime

We’re also heading off this weekend for a different family weekend – our church family weekend. The church I attend is not particularly big, but everyone is so friendly and supportive that it really does feel like being part of a big family. Jessica and Sophie are very much ‘church babies’ and it is like having extra aunties, uncles and grandparents as there are so many people who love to see them and interact with them. I’m looking forward to a weekend away with my own little family but spending time as part of the bigger church family too.

  1. That sounds like a lovely week. Definitely something I miss being so far from home at the moment. Enjoy your weekend x #WotW

  2. So great to spend time as a family, I wish my mum lived closer so my children could form a bond with her

  3. Sounds lovely, and it must be so sweet to see your daughters snuggling down and having fun with their cousins. My two love their cousins, too, and it is great to see that relationship. I hope you have a fab time this weekend, too x Thanks for sharing with #WotW

  4. In our household in Manila, Philippines I only really have one sister but I have lots of cousins and aunts and uncles on both sides. So a normal afternoon is like a party always. I missed that. I missed that more when I read this post =) #WOTW
