Review – Safety 1st Swivel Bath Seat

As Sophie has become increasingly mobile, bath times have become more difficult. I got into the habit of bathing the children together early on as it made the bedtime routine easier but once Sophie was able to move about more, it became almost impossible to bath her in the big bath with Jessica as I needed both hands to hold Sophie in the water leaving no hands free to wash either child properly.

It was my sister who suggested I buy a bath seat and after some searching on Amazon, I bought the Safety 1st Swivel Bath Seat. It’s suitable for babies up to 13kg who are able to sit unaided and attaches to the floor of the bath with suction cups. The back rest supports the baby in a sitting position and there is a spinning ball on the front for them to play with and keep them entertained whilst in the bath. The seat also swivels round to make it easier to wash your baby too.

For me, this has made bath-time so much easier. I was finding bath time a very stressful experience just before I bought this seat and now it has become fun again. Jessica loves being able to sit and play with her sister in the bath and I find it so much easier being able to have both hands free to wash both children. It means Sophie can sit in the bath whilst I get Jessica in and out and I don’t have to then worry about Sophie trying to crawl away whilst I see to Jessica (who is much better at standing in the bathroom waiting whilst I see to Sophie!)

Review - Safety 1st Swivel Bath Seat - Little Hearts, Big LoveA couple of the reviews I read said that the seat was quite small and I suspect that it would be a little on the small side for a 13kg baby. Sophie was just over 8kg when we started using the seat a couple of months ago. I don’t know what her current weight is although if she has continued on her growth chart, she should be around 9kg now and there is still plenty of room for her. She is likely to outgrow the seat developmentally though way before she reaches 13kg as the seat is not recommended once your child is able to stand up themselves and Sophie is not too far off this stage. At the moment she still sits quite happily in it and doesn’t try to get out of it and I’ll keep using it as long as she is safe in it.

I thought the Safety 1st Swivel Bath Seat was reasonably priced at £14.50 and I would definitely recommend this product, particularly if you are trying to bath two children together although it is also useful for bathing an older baby in an adult-sized bath too.

Disclaimer: I bought the Safety 1st Swivel Bath Seat after having a bath seat recommended by my sister. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
