From the mouths of babes #129 – Cuddles, cows and coals

From the mouths of babes is a weekly linky which invites you to share a post, old or new, about something your children have said. Those adorable mispronounced words, the glimpses into their imaginations, the blunt observations – whatever it is, I’d love to hear about it!

Thank you to everyone who linked up last week.  I enjoyed reading Queen of Collage’s post about her daughter starting to repeat words that she’s heard and beginning to put short sentences and questions together.

Last week I had a moment when I just felt overwhelmed by everything and had a little cry. Sophie came over to give me a cuddle.

“I’ll make you all better Mummy,” she said, “you don’t need to worry about anything.”

Bless her. It did make me feel better.

Jessica and I had a day out in London together and went to a ‘Little Pi-Cow-So’ workshop run by Cadbury where we learned how to draw a cow.

“I don’t need to learn how to draw, Mummy!” Jessica told me. “My drawings are beautiful!”

Oh to have the confidence of a five-year-old!

We went on the tube and sat in the front carriage. Jessica was fascinated by the door to the driver’s compartment. I explained that the train driver was in there.

“But Mummy,” she said, “how does the driver not get burnt by the hot coal when driving the train?”

I think a recent episode of Let’s Play where Sid was a steam train driver was to blame for that one! I did try to explain that tube trains didn’t run on steam and there were no hot coals in the driver’s compartment!

If you have any posts about something that your children have been saying lately, please do come and link up. The linky opens each Monday from 6am and closes on Friday at 11pm so there is plenty of time to link up your posts (old and new posts are welcome!). Please add the badge below to your post so others know where they can also link up (the badge code is below). I will also try and share posts via Twitter – please use the hashtag #ftmob and I’ll do my best to retweet them. I also have a Pinterest board and will be sharing posts here too.

Looking forward to reading what your little ones have been saying!

  1. On Friday I was looking for a DVD for my 6 yr old to take to school. After searching for her through the pile on the floor I asked her to tidy them back into the cabinet.
Well this was her response; ‘in assembly we learnt about responsibility, if you move something you tidy it back so you do it.’

    1. Lol, I love that comment in your post. I can imagine it must be hard to make the switch from thinking about everything having film to digital cameras when most of your life has been pre-digital. Jessica hasn’t got that excuse though!
