Sometimes the most magical moments are the extra-special ones. The ones where you head off on an adventure together, doing something completely out of the ordinary. A magical experience that stays in your memory for years afterwards – a moment that you look back on and think ‘wasn’t that amazing?’
This month’s photos are taken from one of those moments. One of those moments when I am immensely thankful for the experiences that blogging has given me. A trip to Chessington World of Adventures, where we were invited to try out the new Gruffalo ride before it opened to the public. Not only did we get to meet the big hairy Gruffalo himself, but we also got to meet his creators, Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler, and have our books signed. Truly an unforgettable experience.
This month has also been a reminder though that there is also magic in the ordinary moments. Moments of just being at home together as a family, enjoying focused, quality time together. Ordinary moments when everything just falls into place. A moment when I realise that I have everything I want. Just being there with my family around me, soaking up the pure joy of being together with no distractions – even if it is just for a short while.
These are the moments that I look back on afterwards too. Not with a feeling that they were extraordinary, but with a warm glow of contentment. There might not be a family photo to look back on but the memory remains.
This is the other memorable moment from the month. Just sitting in the garden together on a sunny Saturday afternoon, enjoying a picnic lunch. Not having to rush out anywhere, not feeling distracted by a to-do list. Just the four of us, together. A moment that was every bit as magical as any adventure because in that moment, life was completely and utterly perfect.
Completey agree about those moments. That new ride looks fabulous! #meandmine
Thank you – it was amazing! 🙂
Oh what a treat! The girls must have loved seeing a ‘real’ gruffalo and I’ll admit I’d be completely awestruck meeting Julia Donaldson!!
Thank you Carie – it was such an amazing experience 🙂
What a fabulous experience! It is so true – blogging can be quite amazing sometimes when you get to do fun stuff like that 🙂 love the Gruffalo pose you are pulling in the first picture! So funny 🙂 #meandmine

Oh my goodness this sounds like the most perfect outing – I am desperate to take ours to Chessington and she would adore the Gruffalo #meandmineproject
We had such an amazing time and the girls loved meeting the Gruffalo 🙂
The Chessington trip sounds amazing – I’m so excited about the Gruffalo ride! But I’m with you – so often it’s those ordinary ‘nothing really’ moments that I treasure the most – just having all the family around you, and enjoying the simple things. #meandmine
The ordinary moments are lovely – I think it’s often because there are no expectations attached to them, that you can just relax and really enjoy the moment.
What a wonderful day for you all and great photos. I agree the ordinary moments are just as amazing, if not better than the days of adventures x #meandmine
Thank you Laura. The ordinary moments can certainly be very special 🙂
Aww those moments are the best moments.
They certainly are! 🙂

Aw those are the moments you remember though, I need to be more present to pick up on them more often 🙂 #meandmine
They are lovely moments. I know what you mean about needing to be more present – I can certainly be guilty of that too!
Ah the warm glow of contentment – that is what family photos should always be. You always capture such happy moments xx #MeandMineProject
