The last month has given me a bit of a reminder of the uncertainty that comes with life as a heart family when Jessica’s sats were lower than normal at a routine community nurse visit, prompting an unexpected hospital visit the next day for a more in-depth check-up. Thankfully it seems to have been just a blip, but it made me realise again that the normal family life we enjoy at the moment is something I can never take for granted.
I wrote a post last month reflecting on what it means to be a heart parent and the uncertainty and fear that comes with the journey along with discovering strength and hope. I was thrilled that my post was also featured in The Mighty and was shared nearly 400 times on Facebook alone helping to reach out to other heart families out there as well as raising awareness of the reality of life as a heart parent.
Community is something that I feel is so important as a heart parent – the knowledge that we are not alone in our journeys and that there are others who can empathise. It is one of the reasons why I set up my Heart to Heart linky – to help other heart parents to share their stories and the experiences and to help support each other as a community.
Heart to Heart opens on the 15th of each month and stays open for a week so there is plenty of time to share your CHD-related posts. You can share old posts or new posts, updates on how your heart child is progressing, poems, advice – whatever you like as long as it is related to life as a heart family. If you would like to add the code below to your post that would be great and please do visit other posts in the link too! I’ll also try and share posts on Twitter – and will try and retweet those with the hashtag #hearttoheartlinky
Thank you to everyone who linked up last month. I have added posts previously linked up to Heart to Heart on my Pinterest board as well as sharing other CHD-related posts. If you would like an invite to pin to it, please do let me know.

Looking forward to reading your heart-related posts this month.
I love this linky….Although I hardly ever link up anything I do feel it is important to raise awareness and the community part of it…but saying that I will be along to link up tomorrow as it’s 6 years since the girls had their surgery this week 😀
Thank you Kim – so glad that your girls are doing so well six years on 🙂
