Heart to Heart – December 2016

Heart to Heart linky was set up to help other heart families share their stories and experiences in order to help support each other as a community.  It opens on the 15th of each month and stays open for a week so there is plenty of time to share your CHD-related posts. You can share as many posts as you like – old posts or new posts, updates on how your heart child is progressing, poems, advice – whatever you like as long as it is related to life as a heart family. If you would like to add the code below to your post that would be great and please do visit other posts in the link too!  I’ll also try and share posts on Twitter – and will try and retweet those with the hashtag #hearttoheartlinky

This time five years ago, Jessica was in hospital having just had her second open-heart surgery. This year she is part of Action Medical Research’s Christmas fundraising campaign to help raise money to support research to help other babies with similar heart conditions. It’s amazing to look back and realise how far we’ve come since that first Christmas.  We spent that first Christmas in hospital and at this time of year, I am always much more aware of just how lucky we are to be here now – to be looking forward to spending Christmas at home; to be able to enjoy the festive season.  I have learned not to take these moments for granted – to make the most of the here and now. As long as we are all together on Christmas morning, I have all I could wish for.

Over the last month, we have attended a couple of parties where we have been able to meet up with other heart families. Being part of a community of heart families and knowing that there are others who have walked a similar journey has always helped me immensely on my own journey as a heart parent and I am sharing some of those moments in this month’s linked post – my Me and Mine post for November.

I have added posts previously linked up to Heart to Heart on my Pinterest board as well as sharing other CHD-related posts.  If you would like an invite to pin to it, please do let me know.   Looking forward to reading your heart-related posts this month.
