The week leading up to a school holiday if often quite full-on with trying to get various jobs done so I can focus on the children being home. This week has been especially full-on as we’ve had a football tournament and a mid-week football match for Sophie, a craft afternoon and friend’s birthday party for Thomas, extra rehearsals (including a dress rehearsal) and promo events for The Wind in the Willows for me and Sophie, plus I’ve been trying to get everything ready for Sophie’s birthday on Sunday and a dance festival next week.
I’m glad my husband’s mostly been working locally this week and has been able to help more with the juggle – I definitely couldn’t have managed to juggle it all without him being around this week too!
Thomas is finding it a bit too full-on at the moment and we’ve had a challenging week at school. I’m hoping that having a break over half-term will help. It’s going to be a busy week for me and Sophie, but thankfully having my husband around next week will mean that Thomas can have a calmer week and space to do the things he likes at his own pace. Once the show is over, we’ll also be back to more normal routines during the week which will help too.
What I’ve been grateful for this week:
- Day 292 – I am grateful that Sophie is back home and had a lovely time at PGL this week.
- Day 293 – I am grateful for a fun afternoon singing at the Chimes to help publicise The Wind in the Willows.
- Day 294 – I am grateful for time to decompress after a very busy weekend.
- Day 295 – I am grateful for the beautiful colours of autumn leaves.
- Day 296 – I am grateful for a better understanding of how Thomas’s school are engaging with him and trying to meet his support needs after talking to his teacher and the SENCO at parents’ evening.
- Day 297 – I am grateful that Sophie was able to join in with the Halloween dress-up week at dancing thanks to her dance teacher lending her some accessories after I forgot it was a dress-up week.
- Day 298 – I am grateful that the ballet shoes have been dyed ready for festival week next week and the next sizes up are done too so hopefully I won’t need to do any more for a while!
Other things that have made me smile this week:
- Meeting up with a friend for a coffee and chat.
- Sophie passing her other 11+ exam.
- Thomas hiding under the umbrella while watching Sophie’s football tournament.
- Watching Sophie doing some great saves in her football matches. Her team didn’t make it through in the tournament but they played well.
- Thomas’s teeny-tiny sign telling his sister not to go in his bedroom.
- Going out for a meal to celebrate my father-in-law’s birthday.
- Seeing the photos from the dress rehearsal.
- My Wind in the Willows promo picture.
Joining in with Raisie Bay for Word of the Week.
It sounds like you have had an extra busy week. I think the kids are more than ready this time of year for a break from school. Mine have two weeks off so we are just heading into our second one.
You look fabulous as Mole, I hope the show goes really well. #WotW
What a busy week you have had! Thank goodness your husband has been around to help. It really has been full on!
Oh no! Poor Thomas, I hope the break for him helps. x
Super busy week. Love the Mole picture. Crikey how many ballet shoes need dying? Hope you have a good half term week.
Have a great half term. I have checked out the website for the show and I hope it goes really well. We are not doing the Word of The Week this Week as ours was a bit sad and someone requested privacy. We should be back next week, all being well.
The first term after the summer holidays is really taxing it’s so good when half term comes around. A big happy birthday to Sophie, I hope everything went to plan. How exciting it’s nearly time for Wind in the Willows, I’m sure you’ll be fantastic.
Well done Sophie on passing her 11+, I bet she is excited for her birthday. Glad to hear the school has a plan for Thomas’ senco plans
I’m glad Sophie enjoyed her trip to PGL. How cute is Thomas’s note to keep out of his room. Hope the performance went well. I used to love it when my husband worked locally and was able to help out with the school and club/activity runs more.
