Friday Focus 01/11/2024 – Stage

Sophie and I are enjoying being back on stage together this week performing in The Wind in the Willows. We’re two shows in now with three still to go. I am loving every minute of playing Mole, and Sophie is wonderful as a hedgehog and field mouse. I’m going to be so sad when this show is over – it’s been so much fun.

It’s been quite a busy week for Sophie, performing-wise, as she’s also had a panto rehearsal and a dance festival to fit in this week, not to mention her birthday which was the day of our band call for the show. She got to have ‘Happy Birthday’ sung to her by the cast accompanied by the band!

While it has been a busy week on the whole, we’ve had some quieter moments too and a couple of trips out doing some Halloween-themed activities. It was particularly nice to have some one-to-one time with Thomas during the week while Sophie was at an outdoor activity day.

What I’ve been grateful for this week:

Sugarpaste figures of Ratty and Mole in a boat and Toad in his car; Thomas dancing in front of a light-up 40; Sophie holding her Wind in the Willows cake; a heart shaped red soap next to tubs of soap-making ingredients; Thomas looking at a model of a haunted house; me dressed as Mole backstage with some of the other cast members of The Wind in the Willows; Sophie bowling a ball towards ghost-shaped skittles while Thomas looks on - "#366daysofgratitude 2024 - Week 44"

  • Day 299 – I am grateful for time to make the figures for Sophie’s birthday cake. No prizes for guessing what this year’s theme is!

  • Day 300 – I am grateful for a lovely evening celebrating a friend’s 40th birthday.

  • Day 301 – I am grateful for 11 years of my funny, loving, wonderful, sassy Sophie. So proud of the kind and caring person she is and so lucky to be her mum.

  • Day 302 – I am grateful that Sophie had fun making soap and bath bombs.

  • Day 303 – I am grateful for some one-to-one time with Thomas doing the Halloween trail at Black Park.

  • Day 304 – I am grateful that opening night for The Wind in the Willows went well.

  • Day 305 – I am grateful for fun doing some Halloween themed activities at Denham Country Park.

Other things that have made me smile this week:

  • Thomas losing his first tooth and having a visit from the tooth fairy.

  • Playing in the autumn leaves.
