This week has been a tough one with the post-show blues hitting hard along with having some difficult moments with various other things going on this week.
Show week was so much fun and I loved every minute of being Mole and being on stage with Sophie. I’ve had such lovely comments from friends and family who came to see the show. It feels very strange this week not to have any rehearsals or performances to focus on – for me, at least. Sophie was straight back into panto rehearsals the day after Wind in the Willows finishes so that’s the next thing to focus on.
It was my turn to lead the service at church on Sunday morning, and it was an All Souls Day service, focusing on remembering those that we have loved and lost. As you can imagine, that was quite a tough service to lead and I found it quite emotional.
World events and other things going on in my life have made me quite stressed and anxious this week, but on a personal level, it has prompted a decision to take a break in the new year from a particular commitment that has been quite stressful over the past year. I need the space to recharge, but I’m feeling a bit guilty that it does put additional pressure on others who are also overstretched.
What I’ve been grateful for this week:
- Day 306 – I am grateful for getting to be on stage with Sophie this week.
- Day 307 – I am grateful for being given the opportunity to play Mole in Wind in the Willows. I have loved every minute of doing this show and Mole has been such a wonderful part to play.
- Day 308 – I am grateful for some quiet time visiting Jessica after a very busy week.
- Day 309 – I am grateful that Sophie had a fun day out with her friends as a late birthday celebration.
- Day 310 – I am grateful for a good first day back at school for both Sophie and Thomas and a lovely report at parents’ evening for Sophie.
- Day 311 – I am grateful for a flower delivery to brighten up a gloomy day.
- Day 312 – I am grateful for a cup of tea and a mince pie.
Other things that have made me smile this week:
- Going out for a post-show pizza.
- Doing a meet and greet in character with some of the children coming along to the matinee.
- Winning an award for ‘most helpful cast member’ at the after-show party.
- The beautiful photos from Sophie’s latest dance festival.
Joining in with Raisie Bay for Word of the Week.
Sorry to hear this week has been a tough one, hope next week is a much gentler one for you. The show looked like so much fun. Sophie’s dance photo is amazing, she looks so happy.
It sounds emotionally tough for you at the moment. I can understand wanting to give up some responsibilities for your health’s sake. I also understand the ‘withdrawal’ symptoms after the end of the period of rehearsals and performances. It hopefully gives you high hopes for when things turn around again.
Sorry that you have had a tough week!
It must be such a downer not having the show to focus on. Good luck to Sophie with the panto rehearsals.
The world events have got me stressed and worried too. Good on you making the decision to take a break in the new year. You have to put yourself first. x
Sounds like the show went so well. Hopefully dropping something gives you a breather. Sometimes we all need that time off.
After show pizza sounds great but I can imagine it’s tough when it all stops. Looks like you did an amazing performance though
I’m glad the show went well but I understand the come down after all that excitement. I’m sorry the week is tough, The news has been tough, and I can imagine the service was difficult for you too
How lovely for you and Sophie to perform together in Wind in the willows, you make a lovely Mole. Sophie looks really happy dancing. Hope the pants rehearsals go well for her. Sorry to hear you’re having a difficult week. I’m glad you got to spend some quiet time with Jessica. I hope you’ve made the right decision for you stepping back from duties. I hope the All Souls Day Service was too difficult for you. Sending lots of love and hugs x
