We’ve had fun enjoying lots of different activities this week. In previous years, we’ve had a summer holidays activity list to tick off, but hadn’t got around to it this year. We’ve had a lazier summer so far than we usually do, which has been nice in some ways, but by the middle of the summer holidays, felt we needed to have something to focus on.
It might have taken us until the halfway point, but we do now have a summer activities list for the rest of the holidays! We’ve included some of our planned days out, along with things like having a movie night, doing the reading challenge, going out for bubble tea, having a water balloon fight and visiting Jessica.
This week we’ve ticked a few activities off our list. Sophie and I went to see her friends performing in ‘Legally Blonde’, we’ve done a pirate trail at Black Park, enjoyed afternoons out at Iver Environment Centre and Chiltern Open Air Museum, done the Nets Adventure at Go Ape and had ice-cream at the park. It’s been good to have ideas for activities and a bit more of a focus for the rest of the summer break.
What I’ve been grateful for this week:
- Day 229 – I am grateful for an afternoon at the theatre with Sophie watching this year’s summer youth project production.
- Day 230 – I am grateful that we raised £87 for Little Hearts Matter at our church coffee morning today.
- Day 231 – I am grateful for a cream tea and church tower tour. Sophie enjoyed seeing the view from the top of the tower and getting to wind the church tower clock.
- Day 232 – I am grateful for a fun afternoon learning about plants and pollinators.
- Day 233 – I am grateful for a fun afternoon at Chiltern Open Air Museum
- Day 234 – I am grateful that Thomas is now old enough to go on the nets with me supervising from the ground. I did go up with him and Sophie for a bit but it was nice to be able to sit and watch while having a coffee!
- Day 235 – I am grateful for new glasses.
Ah it is nice to have things to do and places to visit. My summer feels very quiet because N just wants to harvest with everyone else, so I’ve worked more this year rather than days out with him. The joys of a 13 year old
I really want to do the nets at Go Ape, our local one is quite small though. Glad you have some things planned
A lazy summer sounds great but the activities sound like a lot of fun. It sounds like you have been having a great time especially with the days out.
Well done with the money for Little Hearts Matter and the new glasses look fab on you. x
We’ve had a similar summer, for most of the time we’ve not done much, but the kids have made their own plans and we’ve made plans as a family and overall we’ve had enough activities. you don’t have to plan everything. It sounds like your planned activities have worked out well for you.
We used to come up with a list of things to do when the kids were little. As teachers, we also loved some ‘lazy’ time off during the Summer. Your list sounds fun and I hope you all enjoy it. Before you know it, it will be back to the school days and September.
We haven’t really done much, we were all tired and needed the rest. Next year with both kids having a longer summer holiday I will have to sort some things out!
Well done on raising money with your coffee morning. Love your new glasses
I always start with a lazy holiday planned and it soon fills up quickly and I don’t have kids at home anymore, apart from a fortnight away, most of my time was spent with the grandchildren camping and in the park. Lovely to have a list of activities. We used to take ours to Go Ape, can’t wait till the grandkids are old enough to take them, hopefully I won’t be too old to go then
