This week has been another quite stressful one but there have been glimmers in amongst the stressful moments – little moments of joy here and there which have helped balance out the more difficult moments.
Sophie had her first football tournament last week. Her team lost their first match but won the next two which was enough to get them through to the next round so she was very happy about that. We visited a friend at the weekend to have cuddles with eight beautiful schnauzer puppies which was lovely. Sophie and Thomas loved it and I was so impressed by how calm Thomas was with them. I think Sophie would have liked me to have agreed to have one of them. They were gorgeous and I admit I was tempted, but I really don’t have enough headspace for the responsibility of having a dog at the moment.
The concert on Sunday night was so much fun and raised over £700 for the NSPCC. I’m looking forward to singing a couple of the songs again in another concert this coming Sunday.
Sophie has a residential trip next week and they’re allowed to bring a disposable camera. She’s never used a film camera before and in the process of explaining how they work, I ended up getting out a box of old photos and negatives and looking through the photos with her which was lovely.
Wind in the Willows rehearsals are also a highlight of the week for me – Mole has become my favourite role that I’ve ever played and I’m loving every minute of doing this show. It’s also been nice this week to socialise after rehearsals as my husband’s been home and able to pick Sophie up when the children have finished their rehearsal.
Finally, getting to see the Northern lights again was definitely a moment of joy. The colours are much more vivid on camera but the pinks were visible by eye and it was just magical to see them in the night sky.
What I’ve been grateful for this week:
- Day 278 – I am grateful for getting to watch Sophie play in her first football tournament.
- Day 279 – I am grateful for a lovely afternoon chatting with a friend and enjoying puppy cuddles.
- Day 280 – I am grateful for a lovely evening getting to sing in a concert.
- Day 281 – I am grateful for calming activities and a bit of downtime.
- Day 282 – I am grateful for some time spent looking through old photos with Sophie.
- Day 283 – I am grateful for fresh flowers in Jessica’s vase.
- Day 284 – I am grateful for another chance to see the beautiful aurora borealis.
Other things that have made me smile this week:
- Thomas trying to measure how tall the puppies were.
- Having a night out and going to see some friends performing in Bonnie and Clyde.
- Seeing Thomas taking part in the Harvest service at school. It’s the end of an era for me as parents don’t get to come along to Harvest at the junior school.
- Having a day in the office and catching up with work colleagues.
- Getting to see Sophie in her hedgehog costume.
- Thomas drawing a map of his school and another one of our house.
sometimes those glimmers are all you need to get through a difficult week. I’m glad you are enjoying wind in the willows and well done on your charity concert x
Louise,
Your lives are so varied, what with a football tournament, puppies, concerts, a residential, rehearsals, and the Northern Lights.
I didn’t know that disposable cameras were still available! Perhaps film will make a comeback, like vinyl records.
Sounds like there was lots of fun things going on. Crikey, you do get a lot done in a week. Ours is severely reduced now there’s no tennis, and football matches aren’t as frequent at the moment.
I am glad you have found some little moments of joy in a stressful week.
Well done to Sophie and her team with the football tournament.
That is fantastic that the concert raised so much money. I hope the next concert goes well.
That did make me chuckle about Sophie having to learn how to use a disposable camera, thinking about it I don’t think my girls would know how to use one either.
I can’t believe I missed the Northern Lights again. lol x
Thank God for ‘glimmer’. It’s nice to have some good bits to be grateful for in a stressful week. The puppies sound lovely, and pulling the kids and yourself away must have been hard. Well done on the fantastic figure raised for charity too.
The schnauzer puppies are very cute, my friend had a giant schnauzer and OMG he was huge!! You look fab as mole, bet you cannot wait for the actual show. Well done Sophie on the football tournament and glad you managed to spot the northern lights
I know I’m a bit behind with commenting, but we’re looking after our son’s 10 month old puppy and geez it is hard work and time consuming. I could only see the Northern Lights through my phone with a long exposure. Glad you could see the pinkish tinge with the naked eye. I too have spent a lot of time looking through old photos, searching for negatives.
