This week has felt like quite a lazy week, making the most of the slower pace of life during the summer holidays. We’ve had the odd activity here and there, but nothing that we’ve had to get up early and rush out for. It’s been nice not to have the pressure of having to get to somewhere by a certain time. Next week is going to be busier, so it’s been good to have a quieter week where we’ve all just been able to relax and do things at our own pace.
I had a lovely afternoon out in Oxford last weekend with church friends, enjoying a wander around the Ashmolean museum followed by afternoon tea. I love spending so much time with Sophie and Thomas over the summer holidays but it was good to have that little bit of time out for me too.
Even rehearsals have felt a little lazy this week. Mole is sitting on a boat, or a picnic blanket, or on a caravan for the numbers we’ve been rehearsing, reacting to what’s going on while other people do most of the dancing. Next week will be more intense for having to learn words and moves so it’s been quite nice not to have so much to learn this week!
What I’ve been grateful for this week:
- Day 215 – I am grateful that Sophie had so much fun doing a Wild Week at Iver Environment Centre.
- Day 216 – I am grateful for a lovely afternoon enjoying afternoon tea with church friends.
- Day 217 – I am grateful for bouncy castles.
- Day 218 – I am grateful for Numberblocks-themed maths toys.
- Day 219 – I am grateful for a pond dipping and pitta pizza evening.
- Day 220 – I am grateful for time to bounce and burn off some energy.
- Day 221 – I am grateful for a fun evening going bowling.
Other things that have made me smile this week:
- An afternoon helping out with making costumes for Wind in the Willows.
- Snuggling up with popcorn and enjoying a film night.
- The way Sophie looks out for her little brother and helps keep him entertained.
- Thomas asking the library staff if they have “any books on pi” when we registered for the summer reading challenge.
- Thomas teaching himself to play the theme music for ‘Run Sackboy! Run!’ on his keyboard.
A lazy week is always nice, it’s good to slow down. I am seriously impressed with Thomas writing out PI! He did a way better job than I would have 😀
Crikey, the Pi detail is amazing. I only know 2 decimal points for sure. Sometimes it’s nice to have a calmer week.
How does he know about pi? I’m impressed. I love the Ashmolean. Afternoon tea and a museum visit sounds like my kind of day out. I do like weeks in summer when you have nothing on the calendar. You seem to have filled it with wonderful moments. Hope this week is good too.
It’s great that you’ve been able to have some lazy times from the usual rush and go. Enjoy and I hope the rehearsals continue to go well.
It’s nice to take some time out occasionally, but your lazy week still seems pretty busy compared to most of mine. I guess that’s because my children have grown so much.
Ahh! A lazy week sounds lovely! It’s nice to have some down time during the summer holidays and a little break from the kids too, the afternoon out sounds wonderful.
Thomas is so clever, I only know as far as 3.14 when it comes to pi! x
I love Oxford, have you visited the Story Museum? The kids would love it. I am hoping for a lazy week at some point, sadly it’s been busy busy so far
Wow to Thomas writing out Pi to 100. I only know it to 2 decimal places and rarely use it. Love Sophie looking after her brother, it’s so sweet of her. Hope you had fun making costumes for Wind in the Willows
