Friday Fabulous Five #51

The Friday Fabulous Five is my regular feature where I share five of my favourite blog posts that I have read in the previous week – posts that have made me laugh, made me cry or made me think. Here are this week’s fabulous five:

  • I love this alternative to the poem “Welcome to Holland” from Diary of an Imperfect Mum, which likens being a parent of a child with additional needs to a day at a theme park, reflecting that whilst we all have different experiences, often the choice of whether or not to enjoy them is down to us.
  • We all have days when we lose our cool and snap at our children and it’s easy to feel like a terrible parent for doing so. Sometimes it helps to know that we’re not alone and everyone has bad days and this post from Mummy Says is a beautifully written reminder of that.
  • A new year always feels like a fresh start, but in reality, every day is new and brings fresh possibilities. I love this poem from Verily Victoria Vocalises which sums it up beautifully.
  • Odd Socks and Lollipops shared a short rant about naps – and the battle to get her two year old off to sleep. Her list of things that her daughter does whilst resisting naps is definitely one I can relate to and I’m sure many other parents of toddlers can too.
  • Unsurprisingly, there’s been a lot of round-up posts looking back over the past year but I especially enjoyed reading this one from Writing Bubble where her sensible side reminds her of the things she did manage to achieve during the year – brilliantly written and well worth a read.

I hope you enjoy reading them as much as I did and have a good weekend! You can also find some of the posts from past weeks on my Friday Fab 5 board over on Pinterest.
