Celebrating my 2nd blog birthday with a cake from Baker Days – plus you could win one too!

Today this little blog of mine celebrates its second birthday.  It seems hard to believe that two years have passed since I hit publish on that very first post.  What started as an outlet for my thoughts about life as a heart family has become so much more – it has become a hobby, a bit of an addiction and the doorway into a new world.  I have made so many online friends through blogging, become part of a wonderful supportive community, have rediscovered a little part of me through doing something I love and captured so many wonderful moments of family life along the way.

Of course, an anniversary like this should be celebrated with cake and the lovely team at Baker Days sent me one of their fabulous Letterbox Gift cakes in the post.  I love the fact that these cakes can be so easily personalised – there are lots of different designs on the website to choose from plus the option to upload a photo – as I did.

The cake arrived in a box which, as promised, fitted through the letterbox.  Inside the box was a pretty tin containing the cake plus a card, some balloons and a couple of candles – perfect for a birthday celebration!   Needless to say, the girls had to help Mummy blow out the candles!

The cake was just the right size for the four of us to share and the vanilla sponge inside was light and moist.  There was a thin layer of buttercream between the sponge and the icing layer and the icing itself was just the right thickness and not too sweet.   As you can imagine, it didn’t last very long and we all enjoyed it very much!

As well as the Letterbox cake, Baker Days offers a range of different sizes of personalised celebration cakes and cupcakes with a choice of different types of cakes – from vanilla sponge to choc chip sponge and fruit cake.  They can also offer gluten wheat-free and dairy-free cakes.   The cakes are available for delivery 6 days a week and can even be delivered the next day if ordered before 2pm.

As part of my blog birthday celebrations, I am offering one of my readers the chance to win their own personalised 5” Letterbox cake in a design of their choice. The winner will receive their cake in the post via Royal Mail First Class post.  You can enter the competition by filling in the Gleam form below.  The competition is open to UK and Northern Ireland entrants and ends on 15th April 2016 at 11.59PM.  Good luck!
