Hubby has had a few days off work this week and so we’ve been enjoying being away on a little holiday together and having some
I’ll be blogging more about what we’ve been up to over the last few days later on, but we’ve been having lots of fun travelling around and hunting for gold postboxes. One of the things I’ve loved about doing our gold postbox challenge over the last couple of years is that it has given us an excuse to visit different parts of the country that perhaps we might not have visited otherwise. We were originally intending to visit the Isle of Man so we could visit the last Olympic postbox on our list but as the ferry was fully booked, we had to give up on this plan and so we decided to look for some of the Paralympic gold postboxes on our list. Over the last few days, we have visited Norfolk, Lincoln, the Peak District, and the Midlands before heading home again. We have ticked another nine postboxes off our list and are now three-quarters of the way through the Paralympic ones – total now stands at 33 postboxes out of 46.
As well as the postboxes, we visited Norwich Castle and Lincoln Cathedral (where Jessica particularly enjoyed running around the labyrinth). Hubby and I also had a little moment of reminiscing on our journey through the Peak District as we drove past Buxton Opera House where we performed a couple of times in our university days during the G&S Festival. Sophie and Jessica both coped quite well with the travelling and also enjoyed a trip to CBeebies Land – all in all, we’ve had a fun time.

Sounds like a great challenge to tick them all off – good luck with the final few!
Thank you – not sure we’ll finish it this year but hopefully we’ll get there eventually 🙂
Oh wow! You have really got about….What a great challenge! Good luck x

It’s been a lot of fun – crazy with the travelling at times though! Hopefully we’ll manage to tick them all off the list eventually. Lovely to join in again with #WotW x
Sounds like you had a great time! Love the idea of hunting for the gold postboxes!
It’s been great fun and a fabulous way of seeing different parts of the country 🙂
What a lovely challenge, and a lovely way to see different places. Sounds like a lovely family filled week.
Thank you – it was a lovely week and we’ve loved the postbox challenge for being able to see different places but also now as a way of looking back and seeing how our family has changed as we started it two years ago 🙂
What a lovely idea for an adventure *goes in search of goldpostbox*
Thank you – it’s been a lot of fun. If you’re looking out for them, the Royal Mail has a website showing most of the locations: http://www.goldpostboxes.com
What a great idea to inject some fun family days into the mix and go for gold. I know Buxton Opera House well – my brother is an opera singer and performed when it reopened
Wow, what a talented brother you have! I really enjoyed the couple of times I performed there with the am-dram group I was part of. The postbox challenge has been great for getting us to visit different areas of the country – we’ll have to find something else to inspire us once we’ve finished finding them all 🙂
What a fun adventure! I didnt know there’s more than 1 gold postbox! Now I do =) #wotw
There’s a lot of them out there! We’ve been enjoying finding so many of them 🙂
