The Friday Focus 25/09/15

Ahoy there, shipmates! It’s been all about pirates this week thanks to Jessica having two pirate party days at preschool. She loved being able to go to preschool in her pirate outfit, making treasure out of a gold paper plate with lots of sparkly decorations added and a cardboard cutlass. We continued the theme at home too, having fun making a treasure chest, treasure map and spyglass in our pirate crafts session. The treasure chest has been a big favourite with both of the girls who have spent a lot of time just taking the “jewels” out and putting them back in (along with a few extra treasures!) It’s been lovely to watch them both playing together with it and having so much fun.

Things I have loved this week:

  • Meeting up with a close friend and having lots of snuggles with her adorable 6-week old baby girl. I wasn’t broody at all, honest…!

  • Getting back into singing again now that rehearsals for our November fundraising concert have started.
  • Having a lovely walk along the river with the girls and watching them play Poohsticks for the first time.

  • Stepping away from the blog and having a very early night.
  • Phone conversations with hubby who is away at the moment.
  • The wonderful welcome I got from the girls when I returned from giving blood (first time in 5 years!) – I’d only been gone an hour or so but they were so excited when I walked back in the door. I’m sure it was just because they were pleased to see me and not because Grandma had told them they could have cake when I got back…!

  1. I love that pirate photo at the top and what a fun theme. Great to have a game of pooh sticks, we love that game. Sounds like a good week.

  2. Jessica is looking more and more like you, I’m sure!
Pirates are always big in our house and we have so many games and crafts, but they always enjoy being pirates – they think they can be a bit cheeky when dressed up!
Isn’t Pooh Sticks such a magical game. So easy but captures their imaginations and I know mine can play it for ages! Simple but so lovely!
And no, you don’t look broody at all Louise, honest…*ahem!* Baby cuddles are addictive, then I hug mine and wonder when did they get so big?!
Sounds like you’ve had a lovely week. Enjoy next xx

    1. Baby cuddles are definitely addictive Tracey – I don’t get enough of them these days! These little ones grow up far too quickly although it is lovely to see their personalities taking shape and getting stronger each day too. Hope you, DadTired and the Little Shires all have a lovely weekend x

    1. Thank you – I was so pleased that she chose to be a pirate instead of a princess 🙂

  3. Your little one looks great in her pirate uniform and I know what you mean about the whole broody thing. A few people I know are on to having their second child.

  4. I saw all your pirate pictures on Instagram this week. Looks like everyone was having fun!!! x

    1. Thank you – this week hasn’t been quite so good on the early nights front though…!

  5. Sounds like a great week, I love playing Pooh sticks it’s great isn’t it.
I really need to go and give blood I haven’t been in over 2 years now.
I love the photo of Jessica the pirate – it looks like she is having so much fun!
Oh newborn cuddles are great – I can imagine it was hard not to feel broody!

    1. Thanks Jenni – we really enjoyed Poohsticks and Jessica loved dressing up as a pirate 🙂

    1. Those cuddles were lovely – hope you get to have some cuddles with your niece very soon! 🙂

  6. Hahaha, that last item on the list made me chuckle. Of course it was because they were pleased to see you. The cake thing was purely coincidental. 😉

I don’t think I could handle being around a 6 week old right now, I think my ovaries would explode. 😀

    1. Thanks Jenna – it did make me laugh that the first thing they said after “Mummy!” was “can we have cake now?” 🙂

  7. I am seeing newborns everywhere at the moment!! Don’t they know what they do to us?? Thanks for sharing in #HappyDaysLinky x

    1. There is just something about a newborn baby isn’t there? Lovely to link up to #HappyDaysLinky 🙂
