We’ve been on our travels this week, having a road trip around the country. Most of this week has been spent travelling around Scotland where we’ve experienced all kinds of weather – beautiful Spring sunshine, cold winds and snowstorms, rain and hail. There have been moments when the weather changes quite abruptly – one minute we’re driving through a snowstorm and then two miles further down the road, it’s back to sunshine and not a trace of snow anywhere to be seen. It’s certainly made for some interesting journeys!
Out and About:
The main reason we were up in Scotland this week was to celebrate the wedding of two friends of ours. It was one of the loveliest weddings I have ever been to – just overflowing with joy and love and the girls had a wonderful time too. There was a ceilidh in the evening and we managed to find a quiet space on the dancefloor out of the way of the other dancers as the girls were so keen to join in the fun. Jessica managed quite a good attempt at a Gay Gordons too.
We also managed to catch up with one of my best friends – Gillian, who is godmother to both Jessica and Sophie. It was such a blessing to be able to attend the morning service at her church especially as there are so many people there who have prayed for Jessica since the start of her heart journey and it did make me feel quite emotional to be able to attend a service there with her and give thanks for how well she has done on her journey so far. Afterwards, we headed to a soft play centre where the girls had a wonderful time although Jessica gave us quite a fright at one point as despite us standing by the entrance to the toddler soft play area, we suddenly realized that she was no longer inside. Thankfully it was just a couple of minutes before Gillian spotted her in the big kids area but it felt longer and I am sure a few more grey hairs have been added to my head as a result!
After the wedding, we headed north to Inverness where we visited Urquhart Castle and Loch Ness before travelling to Aberdeen (where we ticked off the 100th gold postbox in our gold postbox challenge) and then south again to Dundee where we explored the Discovery, Captain Scott’s ship for his first Antarctic expedition.
Fun at home:
No fun at home this week as we haven’t been there!
Time for me:
Not a lot of me time this week but it’s been wonderful to enjoy so much quality family time instead.
I had a guest post about life as a heart mummy featured on Welcome to My Circus – thank you Lysa for sharing my post on your blog.
My happiest moment:
The four of us making up our own steps and dancing together during our friends’ wedding reception.
Next week I would like to:
Tick off a few more gold postboxes and enjoy some more family time together.

I love Scotland and road trips. We did one when little T was over a year old. Drove all the way from Cornwall, saw bits of England, and then headed up to Scotland to stay at a small village near Loch Awe! #wotw.

What a fab week! The wedding looked lovely and I love that picture of you and Jessica dancing. Losing a little one in the play area is the easiest thing in the world to do and I bet it’s happened to everyone – they are just so quick. I love your gold post boxes challenge. Have a lovely weekend x

Hi Louise, it sounds as if you’ve had a busy but fun week. I have never been to Scotland, but I can imagine the scenery is quite stunning. Traveling around with little ones can be quite exhausting, it must have been quite scarey losing Jessica, even if it was only for a moment!
Thanks Debbie – it was scary but thankfully short-lived!
Oh what a fab week- and of course there would be snow in Scotland haha! Love that a gold post box was included in the trip!! Thank you for linking up each week, love your posts. #HappyDaysLinky
