The Friday Focus 01/05/15

I recently posted a list of 50 things that make me happy and it seems that this last week has been full of little things that have made me happy – spending time together as a family, having a lovely day for myself, being proud of Jessica at our first ever parents’ evening and enjoying some one-to-one time with Sophie.

Out and About:

It is rare for hubby to join me and the girls on a day out to Legoland (the last time was nearly a year ago on my last birthday) but we managed to have a family day out last Friday. As you can see from the photo below, the girls enjoyed themselves very much!

I found a new toddler group locally which Sophie and I went to while Jessica was at preschool on Wednesday. There were so many different things for Sophie to play with – small world toys, a craft area, ride-on toys and a home corner. She just flitted from one thing to another and thoroughly enjoyed herself in the process. It was the first time I’ve taken Sophie to a group like this on her own and been able to just focus on what she wants to do. The other mums were so friendly too and I suspect it might become a regular activity.

We had our first parents’ evening later that day and were so pleased to be told how well Jessica has settled in to preschool; that she is sociable and friendly and achieving the skills expected for her age group. She is a little more advanced with numbers which we were pleased about – she loves numbers and always points them out when out and about.

Fun at home:
We’ve been making birds and butterflies out of paper plates this week and both Jessica and Sophie have enjoyed gluing and sticking and getting creative.

Time for me:

Getting a whole day to myself to go to BlogCamp last weekend was utter bliss! It was so lovely to travel up with Mel (Le Coin de Mel) and catch up with her as well as meeting so many other lovely bloggers. I learned so much from the day and will hopefully be putting the things I learned into practice over the coming weeks.

On the blog:

I was so chuffed to see my ‘From the mouths of babes’ linky featured in Odd Socks & Lollipops ‘My Top Ten Favourite Linkys’ post – thank you!

My happiest moment:
Sitting in the sunshine at Legoland with hubby and enjoying our picnic whilst watching the girls laughing and chasing each other around a lamp post.

Next week I would like to:

Catch up on a little sleep – I’ve been burning the candle at both ends again recently and need to make sure I look after myself too.

I’ve read so much good stuff about BlogCamp, maybe next year I can add it to my diary
But despite all of that I love the fact that your best part of the week is enjoying family life at LEGOLAND,
    Fingers crossed the weather lasts
    Take care xx

    1. Thanks Tracey – would definitely recommend BlogCamp if you get a chance to go – although maybe I will see you at BritMums in the meantime 🙂

  6. That looks like a great week. I love parent’s evening, it’s so reassuring. It looks like you had a great time in Legoland, it had always rained heavily whenever we have been, even in the middle of a hot spell and I was worried about sun stoke ha! I hope you get to look after yourself this week lovely and have another good one x

Well done Jessica on such a glowing report,
and glad to hear Sophie enjoyed toddler group 🙂 x

  8. Sounds like a lovely week – I love the legoland photos and the description of you and hubby happily picnicing while Jessica and Sophie played – moments like that are just perfect aren’t they. I hadn’t really appreciated how difficult it must be to have activities separate for each child when you have more than one, it’s lovely you’ve found a group that you and Sophie can enjoy together with a chance at some chatting and tea drinking, naturally!

    1. Thanks Yvette – it was so lovely to have that one to one time and enjoy family time together too 🙂

  9. Yay – what a lovely, happy week Louise! 🙂

Legoland looks like great fun and the girls certainly look like they enjoyed themselves.

I’m glad you had a good time at Blogcamp, I’m going to the Bristol one next month and cannot wait. 🙂

    Thanks for joining our #HappyDaysLinky
