10 signs that you’re a parent blogger

04/03/201510/08/2022

When I first started this blog just under a year ago, I never realised just how much blogging would take over my life. Here are ten things that are now true for me as a parent blogger: 1) You go on a day out and spend the whole day mentally reviewing it in your head… Read More

40acts: Week 1

22/02/201504/11/2016

The first week of 40acts is over and we’re 4 acts in so far to this year’s challenge. I’ve been looking forward to the email arriving in my inbox each morning which consists of a reflection by one of the 40 Christian writers who are involved this year followed by the day’s generosity challenge. 40acts: 40 days of Lent, 40 challenges of generosity

17/02/201501/06/2016

Lent is traditionally a time when we focus on giving up something – such as chocolate, alcohol or meat. Last year, I took part in 40 acts, a generosity challenge from Stewardship that focuses on the giving side of giving up in Lent – 40 different challenges across the 40 days of Lent. Think HEART: the signs that your baby may have a heart defect

07/02/201521/10/2017
An infographic summarising the different signs that your baby might have a heart defect. H - heart rate (too fast or too slow?) E - energy (sleepy, quiet or falling asleep during feeding?) A - appearance (pale, waxy, dusky, blue or grey skin colour?), R - respiration (too fast or too slow?) and T - temperature (cold to touch - especially hands and feet?)

Congenital heart defects (CHDs) affect approximately 1% of all babies.  Around a third of these are detected during pregnancy and another third during the standard newborn checks that are carried out in babies born in hospital before they go home. This means however that around 1 in 3 babies with a CHD will go home… Read More

The challenge of hospitality

03/02/201513/02/2015

We’ve all been there. The phone call from a friend or a family member who happens to be in the local area and thinks oh wouldn’t it be nice to just pop in and say hello. And yes, of course, that would be absolutely lovely. Except that you’re looking around at the state of your… Read More

Twenty Questions

29/01/201513/02/2015

I’ve done a couple of posts previously in response to being nominated for the One Lovely Blog Award and the Liebster Award. I was very flattered recently to have been nominated again for the Liebster Award not once, but three times (thank you It’s a Mummy Thing, Keeping Strong and Moving Forward and Mummascribbles) as… Read More

My big blended family

22/01/201504/12/2017
Me with my eight brothers and sisters on my wedding day

Whenever I tell people that I have four brothers and four sisters, they nearly always assume that my mother gave birth to nine children. Actually, the reason my family is so big is because it is a blended family. Both my parents were married twice before they met and married each other. My mother had… Read More
