The days are starting to get longer which means we can now start to fit in a trip to the park after school. The girls got a scooter each for Christmas and the park is just the right distance away for them to ride them there and back (and not too far if I end up having to carry them!)
We’ve been lucky with the weather this past week – it’s been cold but sunny. As long as we’re wrapped up warm with coats, gloves, hats and scarfs then we can still enjoy being outside. How long we get to be outside often depends on Jessica though – once she’s starting to find it all too cold, then it’s time to go back home and warm up again.
Last week we also had a trip to a nearby park after church. The girls made a beeline for the play area as usual. The swings are always the first choice before investigating what else the play area has to offer. This play area had a rope net bridge which the girls have never really tried before. They were both quite nervous about crossing it and needed a little encouragement and coaching to do so for the first time. Once they’d managed it once though, there was no stopping them!
After the girls had finished in the play area, we wandered over to the river to watch the ducks and swans. The girls were a little disappointed that we didn’t have any food for them but were quite happy to stand and watch them for a while.
Sometimes our outdoor time is all about having adventures or using a little imagination to add a little magic. Other times it’s all about the ordinary moments. Just two little girls playing in the park together and enjoying one of the simple pleasures of childhood.
I remember so many times just like this when mine were small. It is such a lovely stage where a play park is all it needs to run off some energy and they are big enough to play with each other with you just keeping a watchful eye. This past week has been so cold but still a little fun at the park is just what is needed.
Thank you for sharing some lovely moments from everyday life with me on #CountryKids
It is a lovely stage and I do love watching them play together. Shame the weather hasn’t been quite so good this week for trips to the park though.
We love ordinary trips to the park. Lovely photos of your girls having fun. #countrykids
Thank you Claire. Can’t beat a nice trip to the park 🙂
Ah they look like they are having lots of fun! 🙂 #CountryKids
Thank you Sonia, they were having a wonderful time 🙂
Ah that’s lovely I love that ending, that sometimes it is just about two little girls in the park. It’s nice they can get back to the park. My kids love it and I can’t wait till the weather picks up and we can spend more time there. #countrykids x
Thank you – it is lovely to be able to spend more time there again although this week hasn’t been quite so nice weather-wise!
I loved those toddler days out at the playpark and duck feeding. Looks fab, make the most of those memories #CountryKids
Thank you – I will do! 🙂
Your girls always look so happy, whether its a trip to the park or a big day out x
Thank you Karen – they are happy girls. Always lovely to see them having so much fun outside 🙂
Sunny days make it so much easier getting out the door with little ones, and once inside the park, even mums can relax a little and enjoy those leaps in confidence. They look so happy. #countrykids
Thank you Sonia – it is lovely to have a bit of sunshine for a trip to the park. Shame the weather this week hasn’t been quite so obliging! 🙂
it is the simple things that bring about the biggest smiles #countrykids
It certainly is! Can’t beat an ordinary trip to the park 🙂
Gorgeous happy shots Louise, looks like you’ve had some lovely times at the park 🙂 xx
Thank you Caroline – we love trips to the park 🙂
Its sometimes the simple things that mean the most. I love taking Monkey to the park after school and was hoping for some good weather this week in the hope we may squeeze one more trip in before I go back to work. And then it will mean picking both boys up at 6pm so until the Summer months the park will be off limits again. Beautiful photos xx #BloggerClubUK
Fingers crossed you get one more trip in and good luck with going back to work x
Lovely photos – I think you have to make the most of the light at this time of year. #countrykids
Thank you – yes, you do – thankfully the light is gradually increasing! 🙂
We haven’t been to the park much recently, which is a shame, it’s always such a fun, simple activity. Looks like your girls were having a wonderful time x #countrykids
Thank you Sara, they were having a lovely time. Hope you manage to have a trip to the park soon 🙂
