Spa Day at Stoke Park

Over the last few years, my mother-in-law has given me spa vouchers for my birthday. They were a very welcome treat before I had children and now they’re even more gratefully received. This year’s birthday present was a spa retreat for two at Stoke Park and so hubby and I left the girls with Grandma and Grandad for the day and headed off for our first day of ‘us’ time in more than three years.

We had a treatment each booked for the morning – hubby headed off for a Thalgo Rebalancing Back Treatment whilst I had the Thalgo Ultimate Body Exfoliation – 55 minutes of a lovely exfoliation with lotus flower and vanilla extract and sand, stepping into a lovely warm shower to wash away the body scrub and then finishing with a full body massage with lotus flower and vanilla extract oil. Sheer bliss (and I may have dozed off slightly at one point!) Hubby also enjoyed his treatment which involved exfoliation, massage and having algae applied to his back – he said it was very relaxing and he too had a little doze mid-treatment!

Me and You - Nov 02Both feeling very chilled out after our treatments, we sat in the atrium and enjoyed a cup of herbal tea, whilst having a little cuddle and browsing through the glossy magazines. A blissful time with us just enjoying being in each other’s company, reminiscing about the last spa day we had had together shortly before Jessica’s arrival and wondering how the grandparents were getting on!

Stoke Park 02As well as the two treatments, our spa day voucher also included lunch and we had both ordered salads – smoked salmon salad for me and Caesar salad for hubby – both beautifully presented and delicious. For dessert, hubby had pannacotta and I had tiramisu and our desserts were very yummy also.

Our lovely lunch had left us both feeling a little sleepy so we headed to the relaxation room where we both had a lie down and a little snooze. I think the beds were slightly heated – they were certainly very warm and very comfy and it was utter bliss to be able to take a nap in the middle of the day! Afterwards, we headed to the swimming pool and whilst hubby tried out the steam room in the men’s changing room (there is also one in the ladies’ changing room too), I relaxed on a lounger by the pool. It was so warm by the pool and with the bright sunlight streaming in through the windows, it was easy to close my eyes for a moment and imagine that it was still summertime and not November.

After our swim, we went back to the atrium to linger for a little while longer – on the one hand looking forward to being back home with our girls, but wanting to enjoy this couple-time for just a little bit longer.

The spa day retreat we enjoyed would have normally cost £115 each – so definitely would have been a luxury treat without the voucher! Thank you very much to my mother-in-law for the lovely birthday present, we had a wonderful day together and came away feeling very relaxed and rejuvenated.

Our spa day voucher was given as a birthday gift.  All thoughts and opinions are my own.

We're going on an adventure

  1. I am not jealous, I am not jealous, I am not jealous…. OK, I AM jealous! I can’t remember the last time I went to a spa, and your day with your husband sound idyllic. Even the food was lovely and not just steamed veg with a piece of fruit for dessert (by that, I mean almost too healthy spa food!). Tiramisu….. (me drooling!).
