Sophie is standing!

With Sophie having just turned 11 months, we’ve just hit a lovely little milestone – being able to stand up without needing to pull herself up on furniture and then standing unsupported for a little while. At the moment, she usually only manages a few seconds before she gets all excited about the fact that she can stand up by herself and starts waving her hands and clapping – at which point, bump! Back down again and time to try again.

We’ve been cruising around the furniture for a little while now so definitely getting more mobile and definitely at the stage of trying to put more and more things out of reach of little hands. It’s quite frustrating at times for Jessica when her little sister wants to grab her toys – especially when she’s just set up something how she wants it and then Sophie rearranges it all – such is the joy of having a sibling. Most of the time though, they are lovely together .

  1. Well done Sophie! 🙂 Osian can stand for about 2 seconds, but it’s not long enough for me to get a photo yet 🙁 it’s exciting when you can tell they’re so happy with the new things they’ve achieved! Xx

    1. Thank you – Osian will get there and you will get that photo! It’s so lovely when they start learning new things – love watching how excited she is about it 🙂

  2. What a gorgeous photo! Standing up is a huge milestone – they can suddenly see everything from a new angle! Exciting! #SSAmazingAchievements

  3. oh, that’s so cute…and she looks so dinky too because she’s still small. My girl was up on her legs at 10 months but was small and skinny so looked rather odd. I love this milestone, the first wobbly stands followed by tentative steps. How very exciting for you & well done baby girl !xx

    1. They do look so cute when they start standing up when they are so little. Jessica was 15 months before she was able to pull up to stand so this all feels very early on for us but it is so lovely to see how excited Sophie is about it all x

  4. This is lovely, such a nice milestone and one that has made me smile. I can’t remember Ethan practising this but when he does decide to do something he does it pretty quickly, we could have missed it lol

Thanks for linking up with Small Steps Amazing Achievements :0)

    1. Thank you – I don’t remember my eldest doing it in the same way, but she was quite a few months older when she stood without support and I think she had better balance by that stage so the wobbly stage was less obvious. Lovely to link up with you 🙂

  5. Lovely photo and well done Sophie, she’ll be running before you know it.
Thanks for linking up with #SSAmazingAchievements & sorry I’m late visiting the post

  6. Well done Sophie! Our 11 month old needs to take notes lol She isn’t even cruising yet! Or standing with support, just wants to crawl and move. Won’t be long until you have to run after her!

    1. Thank you – your little one will get there. Jessica was 21 months before she walked so Sophie was much quicker off the mark.
