Review: Playmobil 1.2.3 Advent Calendar

Disclaimer – I was sent the Playmobil 1.2.3 advent calendar to review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

All three of my children have loved playing with Playmobil. The girls have had Playmobil advent calendars in the past and enjoyed them although Thomas has been too young for one. He’s now at an age of being more aware of big events, like Christmas so I thought he would enjoy the Playmobil 1.2.3 Christmas in the Forest advent calendar.

Playmobil 1.2.3 is a range of Playmobil designed for little ones, aged 1.5 and over. We have a few sets at home and Thomas loves playing with them. They are chunkier than standard Playmobil, with no small parts, so are safe for little ones to play with.

The advent calendar comes with a removable outer sleeve. The outer sleeve shows details of what is inside each window which I found useful. There is a flap at the back of the advent calendar to allow it to be hung up. The advent calendar was lightweight enough to be held by a pushpin on a cork pin-board.

The numbers on each window are nice and big making it easy to find the right window for each day. Thomas’s favourite thing at the moment is numbers. He was just as excited at seeing the numbers on each window as he was about opening each of them to see what was inside.

Each day has a different piece of Playmobil 1.2.3 to build up a festive scene. There are a nice variety of pieces included. I liked that day 1 was a Playmobil person followed by an animal for day 2 before starting to build up the objects making up the scene. The order of pieces works well for allowing imaginative play with people and animals nicely spaced between objects. There’s no extra packaging for any of the pieces inside each window and they were fairly easy for little hands to open and remove what was inside.

Thomas loved opening all the windows and discovering what was inside. We opened them all at once for the review. It will be interesting to see how he finds it come Advent when he has to wait a day to open the next one!

He spent ages happily playing with all the Playmobil 1.2.3 festive scene afterwards. He particularly liked the little owl that sits inside a snow-covered tree.

Sophie still enjoys playing with Playmobil 1.2.3 every now and then at almost seven years old. I think Thomas will enjoy playing with these for quite some time to come.

  1. My middle daughter had this advent calendar last year and it was such a hit! She was so excited to see what was behind each door and she has played with the figures all year round 🙂

  2. I love the idea of a calendar like this. My kids also loved Playmobil! I have seen a wooden Harry Potter calendar with drawers to put things in which I would love.

  3. Oh wow this is very cool and looks amazing. what a great advent calendar and I love the figures you get with this x

  4. We love Playmobil. It’s great they have the range for little ones now, we only had regular Playmobil when I was a kid. The Advent calendar looks like a great set to play with.
