From the mouths of babes is a weekly linky which invites you to share a post, old or new, about something your children have said. Those adorable mispronounced words, the glimpses into their imaginations, the blunt observations – whatever it is, I’d love to hear about it!
I love listening to Jessica chattering away and sharing her thoughts and opinions on things. This is what she had to say about getting older:
“Everybody has to get older apart from Father Christmas who stays one hundred. He can’t get older because who would deliver the presents?”
Clearly, in Jessica’s minds one hundred years old is the age limit for being in charge of a magical sleigh filled with presents!
Last week was focused on potty training Sophie. The first three days were quite frustrating – lots of accidents, very few successes and by day three I was wondering if Sophie would ever get the hang of it. I have to confess that my patience did start running thin at one point:
“Oh for goodness sake!” I said, getting the carpet cleaner out to deal with yet another accident.
Jessica just looked at me. “Mummy. Accidents happen!”
For a moment, I think we’d swapped places and my five-year-old was being the adult! I’m not sure it helped my frustration at that moment in time but it did make me chuckle after I’d cleaned up and recovered with a cup of tea. Thankfully things turned the corner shortly after and the last few days have been much more successful.
If you have any posts about something that your children have been saying lately, please do come and link up. The linky opens each Monday from 6am and closes on Friday at 11pm so there is plenty of time to link up your posts (old and new posts are welcome!). Please add the badge below to your post so others know where they can also link up (the badge code is below). I will also try and share posts via Twitter – please use the hashtag #ftmob and I’ll do my best to retweet them. I also have a Pinterest board and will be sharing posts here too.
Looking forward to reading what your little ones have been saying!
Oh, that’s so sweet! Jessica is a right little character. Mine haven’t come out with anything funny in a while.. At least not that I’ve heard. 🙂
Thank you Beth – she certainly is a little character 🙂
Awww bless Jessica. This little lady is wise beyond her years! We’re right in the middle of that potty training lark too and it’s not fun, is it?
Thanks Mel. Thankfully we seem to have turned a corner – fingers crossed that Wriggly is getting the hang of it too!
Well done – I remember the potty training days with horror.
Love how your little one had such clever words probably heard from you at some point I am sure.
They do happen and in oho so many ways but we keep on keeping on.
Love how she had established Santa has an age cut off point – wish we all did
It is funny to hear myself echoed back every now and then.
