Lunch in the church café used to be a regular treat for the girls after our weekly Tiny Talk class. These days, it’s just me and Sophie who go occasionally when Jessica is at school. The café is usually closed in the school holiday but as it was still open for the first week of Jessica’s holiday, we popped in for lunch.
We got chatting to one of the regular customers who always loves to see the girls. As she was leaving, she asked if Sophie would give her a hug. Sophie duly obliged and gave her a hug and a kiss, but then pulled a face and said “Your kisses are yucky!” Ah the joys of children and their brutal honesty.
I think she’s going through a phase of not being so keen on kisses at the moment thoug. Later that day, when I gave her a goodnight kiss, I also got told “I don’t like kisses Mummy!” I’m quite glad that her dislike of kisses is very intermittent though and she’s still happy to give me plenty!
One morning in the holidays, I asked Sophie to go and wake up Daddy. When she came out of the bedroom a moment later, she said to me “Mummy, I don’t think Daddy likes waking up!”
I had a lovely bouquet from my girls on Mothers’ Day. It lasted a couple of weeks before the flowers really started to wilt. “Look, Mummy,” said Sophie, when she spotted the drooping flowers. “The flowers are sad!”
