Thank you to everyone who linked up last week. I loved Little Steps‘ post about her daughter asking about her day and wanting to celebrate love and OMG It’s a Girl made me laugh with his daughter’s reaction to her new Hello Kitty pillow.
Sophie is becoming chattier by the day and I love the little conversations she has with me. When she first started preschool, she would say “nothing!” when I asked her what she’d done. I wasn’t too surprised – I’d learned from Jessica’s time at preschool that what happens at preschool stays at preschool and assumed it would be the same with Sophie. I’m quite glad that she’s starting to prove me wrong on this one! Now when I pick her up, she’ll tell me a little about what she did at “gool” – whether she played outside, or with the puzzles and what she had for “nack”. It’s so lovely to hear her chattering about her morning.
She had a bit of a wobble at the beginning of her second week and sobbed all the way to preschool. Thankfully I had a much smilier girl at pick-up time – helped by the fact it was someone’s birthday and she had been given a lollipop to take home. The only problem is that now when I pick her up, she looks confused and says “I haven’t got a lolly today!” I keep trying to explain that she won’t get sweets every time she goes to preschool but she remains hopeful all the same!
One of the things she enjoys doing is pairing things up to make “a match” She got quite cross with me the other day when she noticed I was wearing odd socks: “They’re not a match, Mummy! You need to ask Father Christmas for one and then you will have a match!”
She loves seeing the Count from Sesame Street on the ad for Furchester Hotel on CBeebies. It made me chuckle when I heard her counting in the style of the Count.
The thing I love most though about Sophie is just how loving and affectionate she is. She will frequently launch herself at me several times a day and give me the biggest squeeze: “aww, I love you Mummy!” If I tell her “I love you more” she will reply with “No, I love you more!” I also get the most wonderful compliments – to be given a big kiss and be told with the most adorable little smile “you’re so beautiful Mummy, I love you very much!” is the best feeling in the world.

Oh this is so sweet! I love how affectionate our children can be – it makes up for all the times they’re throwing a tantrum 🙂 I’d be happier at the end of the day if someone gave me a lollipop too! #FTMOB x

The love and the fact it works both ways shines out of this post. She will go far with that focus on lollies!

My kids used me as a climbing frame on a regular basis!!!! I’m not going to lie though, I love it 🙂 My son loves matching everything too.
Matching things is fine. Most of the time I don’t mind being a climbing frame – although it can get quite uncomfortable at times with those little knees and elbows not being too careful!
