Me and Mine – May

May is a significant month for us – it is the month when our world was turned upside-down four years ago firstly with the discovery of Jessica’s heart defect at the 20 week scan and then later when we were told that she was unlikely to be suitable for surgery. It is a month when the realisation hits us once again just how lucky we are to be enjoying time together as a family of four and we feel extra thankful for everything that has helped Jessica get to be here with us now.

Me and Mine (May) - Little Hearts, Big Love

May has been another month where we have enjoyed plenty of quality time together as a family – from celebrating my birthday at the beginning of the month to enjoying sunny days out exploring. We visited the gold lock controls at Bray and Boveney locks as a little variation on our gold postbox challenge and then towards the end of the month spent a couple of days on a sheep hunt – looking for the Shaun the sheep sculptures across London and managing to find all fifty of them.

Me and Mine (May) - Little Hearts, Big Love

We have enjoyed quiet time as a family at home, early morning cuddles with both children ending up sleeping in our bed, giggles across the table during a family meal, stories at bedtime – the little moments that make up family life. With hubby often working quite long hours, those moments don’t always happen as often as we would like and so when we do have a period of being able to have so much family time, we make the most of the little moments. I will certainly miss them over the next couple of weeks as hubby will be away in Germany working on an event.

  1. Oh May… May is our “heart” month too… In fact I wrote about it yesterday! A month that brings back lots of tough memories and high emotions. But I am so thankful to be where we are two years on, and four years on your little family looks happy and hungry for life. Lovely #meandmine shots xxx

  2. It looks like you have had a good month. I love that you go out looking for these items. I would have loved to have done Shaun the Sheep but I just didn’t think about arranging it. I did find two on my visit to London though. I love all of your photos x

  3. Oh what a wonderful expedition to find all the Shauns! They’re such lovely pictures and I think the boat Shaun is absolutely fantastic!

  4. Great photos. Lucky to see so many Sheep and get so many pictures of all of you together with them. I planned to go up to London to see them but missed the opportunity.

  5. Love the sheep photos, you managed to get some lovely photos of you all together. Family time is so special and you must enjoy it when you can.

  7. Oh I love these Louise, so colourful with all the different characters, and postboxes 😉 in shot. Thank God for your little miracles and grateful that what the doctors said was not the final word. What a month of ups and downs May is. Beautiful pics #meandmine

  8. This is such a lovely post, Louise. On the one hand, it is refreshing to read about the little things you enjoy together and I love, too: cuddles, stories, laughter. On the other hand, your post is a reminder that you really have to enjoy these happy moments because you never really know what’s around the corner. Xxx

  9. Loving all the Shaun pictures and it’s so nice that you’ve done so much as a family in such a significant month for you x #sharethejoy
