From the mouths of babes #47

From the mouths of babes is a weekly linky which invites you to share a post, old or new, about something your children have said. Those adorable mispronounced words, the glimpses into their imaginations, the blunt observations – whatever it is, I’d love to hear about it!

A big thank you to everyone who linked up last week. I loved Mummascribbles’ latest list of funny things that her toddler has been saying, especially “Because I’m Zachary and I’m not food!” and Pickles and Pords’ brilliant poem summing up all those questions and demands that we hear from our little ones throughout the day.

Looking for a lost voice - From the mouths of babes #47 - Little Hearts, Big Love

I had a cough and a cold last week which resulted in me losing my voice. The girls were quite confused as to why Mummy was whispering – “talk properly, Mummy!” Jessica kept telling me.

I explained to her that I had lost my voice.

“Where has it gone, Mummy? Open your mouth, I’ll look for it!” I duly opened my mouth and submitted to the prodding with toy medical instruments. “I’ll find it, Mummy!”

Sadly, Dr Jessica’s attempts to find my lost voice were futile.

Sophie thought that Mummy whispering meant that she had to whisper too, so all her responses to anything I tried to say were very quiet (apart from when Mummy was saying something she didn’t want to hear, such as “it’s bedtime” and then the volume increased noticeably!)

Thankfully my voice has now mostly returned although I think hubby and the girls quite enjoyed the fact that I was completely unable to shout for several days!

If you have any posts about something that your children have been saying lately, please do come and link up. The linky opens each Monday from 6am and closes on Friday at 11pm so there is plenty of time to link up your posts (old and new posts are welcome!). Please add the badge below to your post so others know where they can also link up (the badge code is below). I will also try and share posts via Twitter – please use the hashtag #ftmob and I’ll do my best to retweet them. I also have a Pinterest board and will be sharing posts here too.

Looking forward to reading what your little ones have been saying this week.

    1. Thanks Kyles – it’s almost completely back now so no more being told “talk properly Mummy!” 🙂

  1. Oh your girlies are just too cute, Louise! I love the fact Jessica was looking for your voice, and also that Sophie was whispering to match your quiet voice. These two are little gems! I really want them to meet my little ones. We’ve got to get together soon, we live so close to each other!

    1. Thanks Mel – yes we really must have a proper meet up soon so that the little ones can get together as well! 🙂

  2. Oh my! Your girls are full of cuteness and sweet at the same time. I love the fact that Jessica was looking for your voice- bless her.

I hope you’re on the med now (I whispered too). 😉

    Thanks for hosting. xx

    1. It did make me laugh that Jessica was trying to find it for me – thankfully it is back again now! 🙂

    1. Thanks Becky – it was lovely. I always love reading everyone’s posts too and hearing the wonderful things that little ones say 🙂

  3. bless, did you find your voice? we still sue many words and sayings that the kids used to say before they grew up and fled the nest. Child 4 of 5 used to ask ‘can you do my shoes undone?’ and youngest used to say ‘puter’ rather than computer and even hubby says he’s going to use the puter when he switches his laptop on

    1. I did find my voice eventually, thank you! Jessica says “puter” a lot too – we use some of the toddlerisms that the girls come out with although that particular one hasn’t stuck so far.
