From the mouths of babes is a weekly linky which invites you to share a post, old or new, about something your children have said. Those adorable mispronounced words, the glimpses into their imaginations, the blunt observations – whatever it is, I’d love to hear about it!
A big thank you to everyone who linked up last week. Mummascribbles’ list of funny things that her toddler has said this week made me laugh – especially his comment about the vegetables talking out of his bottom! I also loved Days in Bed’s interview with her 7 year old with some very cheeky and funny answers to the questions about Mummy and Daddy.
We’ve just come back from a holiday on the Isle of Man. From the moment we arrived at the ferry terminal, Jessica was transfixed by the triskelion symbol that she spotted on the mat in front of her: “Look, Mummy, legs!” She spent the next few minutes running around the terminal getting excited each time she spotted “more legs!” Her reluctance to leave the terminal building and get back in the car was only eased by my promise that she would see lots more legs during our holiday. We bought her a little flag as a souvenir which has made her very happy!
Sophie was quite impressed by getting to see the sea – or “bubble!” as she called it. “Bubble”, in Sophie-speak, tends to refer to a body of water in general – it is used to describe the bath, a swimming pool, rivers and now it seems that the sea has been added to this list.
If you have any posts about something that your children have been saying lately, please do come and link up. The linky opens each Monday from 6am and closes on Friday at 11pm so there is plenty of time to link up your posts (old and new posts are welcome!). Please add the badge below to your post so others know where they can also link up (the badge code is below). I will also try and share posts via Twitter – please use the hashtag #ftmob and I’ll do my best to retweet them. I also have a Pinterest board and will be sharing posts here too.
Looking forward to hearing what your little ones have been saying.
This week’s comment comes from the result of a little accident. While there were no serious injuries, I think a little pride was hurt and a slice of humble pie was eaten.
Why kids have to find these things out for themselves, I’ll never know!
So glad that all was okay – I’m not sure why they’re so determined sometimes to discover the reason behind “don’t do that” for themselves either!
Hope you had a lovely holiday x
Thanks Alice, we had a lovely time 🙂
‘More legs’! Well, who wouldn’t be obsessed by the appearance of disembodied legs everywhere? Love the ‘bubble’ sea! #ftmob
Lol, she was quite fascinated by them! I love “bubble” for sea too – sounds much more fun! 🙂
cute. My daughter called all water “splish splash” for a while
Oh I like “splish splash” – that’s a good way of describing water too! 🙂
I love the legs!! We are definitely sharing a blunt observation… x
Lol, I love your toddler’s blunt observation! So funny the things they come out with sometimes! 🙂
Aww! Bless them…..They are so cute! x
Thanks Kim – I think so too! 🙂
Thanks for the mention! I don’t have a post scheduled about my daughters words this week but one coming next week! See you then!
Will look forward to it! 🙂
Those do look like legs! 🙂 My daughter often just says splish about water, and/or puddle. Funny these made up words aren’t they 🙂
I love “splish” for water – so lovely and descriptive 🙂
Hahaha they are so cute! Did she said Jessica said it in her German style “der leg?” 😉 I hop you had a lovely holiday and get to see lots of legs. xx I fail to link up yesterday site was playing silly again. I’ve got one saved for you next week. xx
Lol, we didn’t get it German-style but it was quite funny to see how fascinated she was with the leg symbol everywhere! We had a lovely holiday, thank you – hope you are enjoying the summer and will look forward to your post next week 🙂
