From the mouths of babes #149 – Snuggles and longing for spring

From the mouths of babes is a weekly linky which invites you to share a post, old or new, about something your children have said. Those adorable mispronounced words, the glimpses into their imaginations, the blunt observations – whatever it is, I’d love to hear about it!

From the mouths of babes will be taking a break over the Easter holidays and will be back again on Monday 16th April. This week’s linky will be open until 11pm on Friday as normal.

Thank you to everyone who linked up last week. Conversations with Hank made me chuckle with Molly’s new phrase “mumble, mumble skull of Keeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaattts!” – you’ll need to read the post to find out more about the story behind it though!

Jessica and Sophie in the snow - "From the mouths of babes #149 - Snuggles and longing for spring"

This winter has been a tough one for Jessica. She’s been struggling with the cold weather and the various winter bugs that have been going around at school have hit her hard. She wasn’t impressed by the return of the snow last weekend.

“Oh dear,” she sighed, looking out of the window, “it’s still winter. It’s never spring. When is it going to be spring mummy?”

I’m with her on looking forward to some warmer spring days. The colder weather does make staying indoors and snuggling up together an inviting prospect though. Both my girls love having snuggles, and will tell me “I love you, Mummy” several times a day.

Sophie will often repeat my affectionate phrases back to me, substituting Mummy where she thinks it’s appropriate. For example:

Me: “You’re my favourite Sophie-woo!” (I’m not sure where that nickname came from but we’ve called her Sophie-woo since she was a tiny baby)

Sophie: “You’re my favourite Mummy-woo!”

Me: “You’re my precious little baby girl.”

Sophie: “You’re my precious little Mummy girl.”

If you have any posts about something that your children have been saying lately, please do come and link up. The linky opens each Monday from 6am and closes on Friday at 11pm. Please add the badge below to your post so others know where they can link up. I will share posts via Twitter. If you use the hashtag #ftmob I’ll also do my best to retweet them. Posts linked up will also be added to the #ftmob Pinterest board.

Looking forward to reading what your little ones have been saying! Hope you all have a wonderful Easter.
