It’s been another week of flying solo with hubby having been away until yesterday. As the week comes to an end, my main feeling is just being tired. I’ve been trying to juggle a few too many balls, had a to-do list that was just a little too long and burned the midnight oil one too many times. I’m very thankful for hubby being home at least for the weekend (he’s away for most of next week). Just having that extra pair of hands to take a little of the load off is helpful.
Jessica has also been more tired this week. She’s coped so well with school, especially as she started on full days from the word go. Yesterday it was all a bit too much though. I had a phone call after lunch to collect a very tired and very tearful Jessica. On the plus side, we had an afternoon of snuggles on the sofa (before having to go to the doctors for her flu jab). It was reassuring to have that confirmation that school will call me if Jessica is really struggling. They seem to be good so far at keeping a close eye on her. Hopefully she’ll feel more rested after the weekend.
Things I have loved this week:
- Taking part in the Girls’ Brigade recruitment event and watching Jessica and Sophie having fun doing crafts and getting their faces painted.
- An afternoon visiting friends. The girls had fun exploring Donnington Castle and playing in the playground near our friends’ house.
- Finishing the edits to the script and writing the songs for short piece of drama that will be performed in our Christmas concert at church.
- Getting our certificates through for completing our Land’s End to John O’Groats journey. We are now official “End-to-Enders.”
- Baking cookies with the girls.
- Sitting at the table and doing jigsaws with Sophie.
- Catching up with a friend over a late breakfast at the local garden centre café.
- Making a start on the Christmas present list.
- Seeing the joy on the girls’ faces when Daddy arrived back home.
I can see why your word of the week is tired, you’ve had quite the busy week and done it all solo! Hope Jessica is feeling better about school after the weekend. It can be so hard for them in the first few weeks, I remember my daughter bursting in to tears all of the time because she was so tired!
Have a lovely weekend #WotW
Thank you Lauren – it has been a busy week. Fingers crossed for a restful weekend!
Well done for completing your Land’s End journey! T has been tired too, though you would think that would help her sleep. It still takes her ages. Love that photo of Jessica in the recruitment booth, she looks so grown up! 🙂 #wotw
Thank you Dean – isn’t it frustrating when they take ages to fall asleep even though they are clearly tired?
Aww! Bless you. It sounds like you have had a very tiring week and poor Jessica too…I hope you both manage to get some rest over the weekend. Sending love and hugs x
Thank you Kim – fingers crossed we’ll all feel more rested after the weekend!
You have done so much this week, and it’s always so tempting to just cram more in, isn’t it? Sometimes our bodies just force us to slow down, and it sounds like Jessica’s needed it, too. It is good that the school will phone when that happens and very reassuring for you. I hope this week’s a little steadier for you x Thanks for sharing with #WotW
Thanks Jocelyn – can definitely relate to that feeling of my body forcing me to slow down. I’ve been trying to make sure I listen to it! x
You really have had a busy week no wonder you are all feeling tired, I think this time of year with it getting darker earlier also makes you feel more tired too. The photo of Sophie & Daddy is just adorable. #WotW
Yes I think the nights drawing in also contributes, although I suspect it’s more trying to do too much this week!
I love your list of things that have made you happy this week. It may have been tiring, but it looks like one full of love and friendship. I hope you get plenty of rest htis weekend. Even if its just an hour or two to yourself. #wotw
Thank you Cheryl – it’s been good having hubby home for the weekend – I feel much better for having had that family time! 🙂
Ah it feel good when Daddy comes home doesn’t it? Chris used to work away loads when the boys were little and it’s so hard so I feel your pain. I can’t believe you are Christmas shopping already super organised x
It is hard when your partner works away a lot – I’m mostly used to it now but it makes such a huge difference to have him home again. Not usually this organised with Christmas shopping but just happened to notice some bargains when out shopping and took advantage of them! 🙂
I’ve started Christmas shopping as well this week. Next we have to tackle making a cake and a pudding.
Good luck with making the cake and the pudding 🙂
Awww wonderful things have happened this week. So pleased that the staff at the school are really looking after your daughter. #WotW
I think you are amazing. I’d fall apart if Mr F went away all the time. x
Oh it must be such a relief to have your husband home. I found it so difficult when my hubby was in hospital for three weeks, it’s just so hard to keep everything going and not let the children suffer because you’re finding it hard. You’re doing an amazing job.
