Friday Focus 27/06/2025 – Solo

I’ve been flying solo again this week with my husband away working on a couple of events. It’s been one of those busy times when we see very little of him even when he has been home due to early starts and late finishes but he’s back home again now and hopefully we’ll be able to have a bit more family time together.

In the meantime, I’ve been very grateful that my mum was able to come and stay at the weekend and help out as it was yet another performing weekend for Sophie and myself – this time at the NODA London awards, doing some songs from The Wind in the Willows. Sophie stepped in to play Horse as well as performing as a Hedgehog Child and a solo mouse chorister. She had quite a lot of solo lines and performed them so well. I was so proud of her.

I’ve been trying to learn my solo and duets for a concert I’ll be taking part in next month. I’ll be singing some operatic pieces with a full orchestra which will be a new experience for me. It’s good to have a challenge, but I am quite nervous about it.

This week, I’ve also received some of the photos from Sophie and Thomas’s dance show. There are some really beautiful photos of them both from their solo numbers.

What I’ve been grateful for this week:

Pancakes with ice cream, cream, strawberries and bananas; Sophie roller-skating at her friend's roller disco party; me as Mole with Toad and Ratty; a lake; pink sweet peas; Thomas drawing a picture; my new trainers - "#365daysofgratitude 2025 - Week 26"

  • Day 171 – I am grateful for a little end of week treat.

  • Day 172 – I am grateful that Sophie had a fun time at her friend’s birthday party.

  • Day 173 – I am grateful for getting to perform as Mole once more along with Ratty, Toad and other members of the Wind in the Willows cast for a performance of some of the songs from the show at the NODA London awards.

  • Day 174 – I am grateful for a nice cool breeze while out for a walk.

  • Day 175 – I am grateful for pretty sweet peas in the garden.

  • Day 176 – I am grateful for calm moments.

  • Day 177 – I am grateful for managing to get a new pair of trainers from the children’s section – plus they were also on sale so even more of a bargain!

Other things that have made me smile this week:

  • Catching up with a friend before they moved to Suffolk.

Sophie and Thomas with my friend

  • Sophie and Thomas trying to share Thomas’s scooter.
