This week has been all about spending time with family. My twin sister and nieces came to stay for a few days at the beginning of this week and the four cousins have, as always, had a wonderful time together. Jessica was very sad when they had to go back home again though!
We also had the opportunity to get together with other heart families at the weekend at the Families of Ocean Ward day out at Paultons Park. I love these days out – seeing the girls having lots of fun on the rides but also being able to catch up with other heart families that we’ve got to know during our own family’s journey. The heart family community is a wonderfully supportive one and seeing other heart children with similar conditions to Jessica doing well is always very encouraging.
Things I have loved this week:
- Taking the girls swimming and seeing Sophie starting to become a little more confident. She still wants to hold on to me throughout but is now happy for me to hold on to her hands at times rather than being like a little koala clinging on to a tree.
- Getting into the top 100 of the Tots100 for the first time.
- Getting to go on a rollercoaster ride with my sister and nieces – it’s been a while since I last did that!
- My poem about Jessica growing up too quickly being featured in the Britmums Poetry and Prose round-up
- Helping the girls make gingerbread men.
- Noticing Sophie’s toddlerisms much more thanks to my sister and nieces picking up on them – I’m so used to them that I tend to hear the word she is trying to say rather than the adorable way she mispronounces it.
- A day out at Chiltern Open Air Museum enjoying the sunshine.
- Celebrating hubby’s birthday with a Chinese takeaway
- Watching Jessica and Sophie having a lot of messy fun doing some painting in the garden.
- Making clothes peg dollies with the girls.
- Holding my girls’ hands while they go to sleep and getting my hands kissed repeatedly while doing so!
Aww! How lovely…It sounds like such a good week!
Congrats on the Tots score. That is fantastic. Well done.
Lovely photos….It looks like you have been busy x
Thank you Kim – it has been a lovely week and yes, a very busy one too! 🙂
It sounds like a lovely week, I always wanted to go to Paultons park while my little ones where fans of Peppa Pig, but sadly we never made it, and now they are far to ‘grown up’ for poor Peppa. Congratulations on your Tots score, that’s brilliant.
Thanks Anne – my nieces have outgrown Peppa too but there was plenty for them to enjoy at Paulton’s Park (and I think they quite enjoyed Peppa Pig World too!) 🙂
Sounds a fabulous week full of love and laughter X #wotw
Thank you – it has been a good one 🙂
It’s lovely how close you are to your sister and that the cousins all get on so well. I can see why the heart community would feel like a big supportive family, too, and it must be so reassuring seeing others with Jessica’s condition doing so well. Well done on the Tots score! Thanks for sharing with #WotW
Thanks Jocelyn – I do love seeing my girls having fun with their cousins and seeing other heart children doing so well is always so lovely too 🙂
Aw it looks like a fab week and such amazing weather! Well done on tots! I had the complete opposite luck (sob) crashed right down…ah well. The hand kisses are so cute! I get a lot of shoulder kisses. Hope hubby had a brill birthday xx #wotw
So sorry to hear that your Tots crashed down this month – I’ve found mine has been up and down like a yo-yo so I’m enjoying the moment while it lasts – no doubt it will go back down again at some point! Shoulder kisses sound adorable 🙂
Looks like you have had another fun packed week, it’s so nice to spend time with family some of my best memories of childhood involve my cousins. #WotW
What a lovely week with family, it sounds like you all really enjoyed it. I have been debating about going to see Peppa Pig world for a while now. I’m not sure if Ethan would be able to handle the drive. My two do love Peppa Pig though, it will be debated some more ;0) #WotW
