My children seem to be a little too nocturnal for my liking over the last week or so. We’ve had a couple of nights with Jessica being awake for three hours or more in the middle of the night. Sophie has also started waking at around 4.30am and the only way to persuade her to sleep a little longer is to snuggle up with her in our bed. The only problem is that by that time in the morning, we usually have a Jessica already in the bed which means very little bedspace left for a Mummy! Fingers crossed this current phase is relatively short-lived!
Things I have loved this week:
- Having enough snow to be able to build a snowman in the garden.
- Going to a toddler group with Sophie that I hadn’t been to in ages – was chuffed too that they remembered my name, especially as it’s a big group and I’ve only been a handful of times before. Lovely as it is to be “Sophie’s mummy” it is nice to have my own identity too!
- Jessica drawing her first picture of her family.
- Being woken up by Sophie (co-sleeping at the time) looking right into my eyes and gently stroking my face.
- Getting Sophie her first duvet and pillow set (in the hopes that it might help her to sleep better!)
- Playing around with the girls’ hair and trying out different types of plaits (am amazed that they were so happy to let me do it too!)
Oh I hope the night time problems settle soon, it sounds difficult. Love that drawing, definitely a precious memory to keep. #WoTW
Thanks Karen – at least hubby is home over the weekend so hopefully a lie-in will be possible! 🙂
That drawing is cute, I’m guessing the nocturnal activities less so! Hope they settle back into their usual sleep routines soon, and hope that bedding helps x #wotw
Thanks Stephanie – they’ve now got colds so still a lot of nocturnal activity, hopefully we’ll be back to normal soon!
Oh dear, not a good word! My Little Man’s been sleeping even less than he normally does recently, too – like you, hoping it’s just a phase! That’s a lovely photo with the snowman there, and what a wonderful way to be woken up 🙂 Thanks for sharing with #WotW x
Thanks Jocelyn, hope you get some more sleep soon as well!
Oh dear….I hope they start sleeping a little better.
Aww! The photo with the snowman is just adorable! x
Thanks Kim – am sure we’ll get there soon!
Oh noooo 3hrs being awake? How are you coping hun? Hope that is short term. zzzz The cuddles in- bed are lovely but you just want to sleep. Jessica’s pic is fab – one to cherish. Glad the group remembered you 🙂 You are worth remembering!! xx #happydays
Thank you Sarah! Coffee is my friend at the moment, along with the constant reminder that this phase won’t last forever!
They look so pleased with their snowman! I hope they get back into their routines soon, the night time thing doesn’t sound good! #HappyDays
Debbie
Thanks Debbie – fingers crossed we’ll get there soon!
Oh-err, the nocturnal habits can throw you somewhat especially when you’ve been used to sleeping well. I hope the sleeping patterns shift back again soon
We are SOOOO jealous of anyone with snow. Somehow our little corner of Oxfordshire was overlooked when it came to the snow. So I love seeing your two enjoying it; it doesn’t last for long so I hope you made the most of it!
Have a lovely week, Louise
xx

Thanks Tracey – we definitely made the most of it! Sorry you missed out though – hopefully you’ll get some before the winter’s out!
Oh huni, I hope the girls start to sleep better, it is a real killer. So gla dyou got some snow, we didn’t get even a scattering. Have a great week x
Thanks Aby, am sure it will pass soon and in the meantime, thank goodness for coffee! 🙂
Ah, Jessica’s drawing is so cute! Our daughter is starting to draw the family. They are a precious keepsake. I hope sleep returns to your house soon! #HappyDays
Thanks Becky. It is lovely to have those drawings of the family – we will certainly be treasuring this drawing! 🙂
I can kind of feel your pain Boo thinks 5am is morning, which is hard and makes for long mornings especially as some days she won’t nap!
I hope things settle down soon and you all get some more sleep!
I love Jessica’s drawing it’s so cute =)
Thanks Jenni – I can imagine a 5am start does make for long mornings – thankfully Sophie can usually be persuaded to go back to sleep and Jessica tends to sleep past 6am at least which is always good.
Oh how cute is Jessica’s drawing! That’s a keeper! I feel your pain on running out of space in the bed, I ended up sleeping in my toddler’s bed the other night as both boys had got into my bed! Thanks for linking up to #HappyDaysLinky x
I’ve resorted to the sleeping in the toddler’s bed too occasionally – not the most comfortable place to sleep though!
I LOVE that drawing!! What a lovely thing to treasure forever. Thank you for sharing in #HappyDaysLinky x
Thanks Katy – I love it too – it’s currently on the wall but will be going in the artwork folder later on 🙂
