It’s been non-stop this week with various performances and rehearsals, another dance festival for Sophie, a social event for me and all the travelling to and from everything.

Thomas took part in the Brigades’ display on Friday evening. Unfortunately I missed it this time due to being on the theatre run for Sophie but my husband was able to video it for me. His section had to put together the words of the Anchor Boys’ prayer by collecting the words from members of the audience and putting them on a board. Thomas absolutely loved doing this and it was so lovely to watch his excitement taking part in this.
Saturday was a two-show day for me taking part in ‘From Stage to Screen’ – a concert featuring songs from musicals that started on stage and then became film musicals. I had a couple of solos, a duet and was part of several small group and ensemble numbers.
Sophie had a dance festival on Sunday and came away with two trophies for her character solo which was amazing. She’s also had an intense week of rehearsals to prepare for the start of previews next week.

I had a lovely evening out on Monday catching up with some of my midwife colleagues from my days working at the Birth Centre. It’s been quite a while since we last met up and it was so good to see them all again.
I’ve been flying solo most of this week as my husband’s been busy working on various events and is in Milan until Sunday. I was very thankful for Sophie’s godmother stepping in one evening this week to do the pick-up from rehearsal and also thankful that Thomas has coped so well with all back and forth too. The journey to and from rehearsals takes just under two hours so we’ve spent a lot of time in the car this week. Next week things will start easing off as we’ll go from five long rehearsal sessions to a couple of previews and then two shows a week on average for the run. It’s been exhausting but it’s exciting too and it’s such an amazing opportunity for her. We’re just over a week away from her first show and I can’t wait to see it.
What I’ve been grateful for this week:
- Day 135 – I am grateful that Thomas enjoyed taking part in the Brigades’ display.
- Day 136 – I am grateful for a two-show day, getting to perform some fab songs from shows in ‘From Stage to Screen’
- Day 137 – I am grateful for two trophies for Sophie at Bright Star Dance Festival – 4th place in Miss Inter Bright Star and highest scoring open character solo.
- Day 138 – I am grateful for a lovely evening meeting up with some of my midwife colleagues from my Birth Centre days. So lovely to have a catch up.
- Day 139 – I am grateful for a gold certificate for Sophie in the UK Maths Trust Junior Maths challenge.
- Day 140 – I am grateful for getting to try some of the yummy focaccia that Sophie made in food tech.
- Day 141 – I am grateful that the Pretty Jessica roses in my garden are starting to bloom.

This was me the week before – non-stop – it feels like a snowball gathering snow sometimes, right? That foccacia looks sooo yummy
What a jam-packed week it’s been for you all, but it sounds like it’s been lots of fun.
I didn’t realise you worked as a midwife previously, it’s lovely that you got to meet up with some ex-colleagues.
Sophie’s focaccia looks very tasty. I wish Jake had made something that nice in cookery; everything he’s done so far is heavily tomato and onion-based.
The Jessica roses are looking beautiful in bloom.
Oh wow! You have all been busy. Well done to Thomas with the Brigades’ display, you with the show and Sophie with the dance festival.
How lovely to catch up with your midwife colleagues.
Crikey foccacia’s quite an exciting make for school food tech classes. N’s cooks were so boring and cheats short cuts compared to what he’d usually make at home. Well done Sophie and you on your performances. Nice that you were able to catch up with old work friends.
A very busy week indeed. You must be super proud of your children, you can see where they get their talents from. I hope you do get a slower week this week.
Sophie is on a roll, collecting so many awards. It does sound like a very busy week for you, especially that you are flying solo. Glad your friend is able to help.
Focaccia in food tech is quite a challenging task, don’t remember my guys cooking anything so tricky.
Well done to Thomas with his Brigades’ display.
And just look at those pretty roses! Hope this week is easier for you.
From stage to screen sounds really interesting, but with all your rehearsals and Sophie’s practices I’m surprised you’ve had time to do anything else this week, that heavens for Sophie’s godmother collecting her this week and hubby being able to record Thomas’s brigade display as well so you didn’t miss out.
