Friday Focus 21/02/2025 – Balance

We’ve been on half-term break this week and it’s been a nice balance of planned days out, chilled out time at home, visiting family and friends and low-key activities like a trip to the park or a movie evening. It’s been good to have fun moments together but also have some downtime too. I managed to get in a little bit of me-time as well, getting out for a snowdrop walk with a local walking group.

The word 'balance' on a seesaw

Half-term can often be a bit hectic with dance festivals. Sophie does have a dance festival this week, but it’s all over the weekend. While that will mean she has a busy couple of days before going back to school on Monday, it’s better then having it spread out over the week so it feels like we’ve had a nice balance with the dance festival and other half-term activities too.

What I’ve been grateful for this week:

Sophie and Thomas at a trampoline park; snowdrops next to a river; Thomas holding his swimming certificate; Sophie and Thomas having a playdate with their friend; Sophie holding a sock snowman; Thomas with my mum; the Houses of Parliament - "#365daysofgratitude 2025 - Week 8"

  • Day 45 – I am grateful that Sophie had fun at her friend’s birthday party.

  • Day 46 – I am grateful for getting out for a walk and seeing lots of pretty snowdrops along the way.

  • Day 47 – I am grateful for Thomas getting his first swim certificate.

  • Day 48 – I am grateful for a lovely start to the half-term break with a play date.

  • Day 49 – I am grateful that Sophie had fun at the drop-off day at Iver Environment Centre.

  • Day 50 – I am grateful for a lovely day spending time with my mum.

  • Day 51 – I am grateful for a day out in London going on the London Eye and visiting the National Portrait Gallery.

Other things that have made me smile this week:

  • Thomas “standing” on the ceiling.

Thomas being held upside down by Daddy with his feet on the ceiling

  • Catching up with my sisters.

  • The Paddington mural near Waterloo station.

  • Getting to share my love of history with Sophie while looking at the portraits in the National Portrait Gallery.

Well done to Thomas for his swimming certificate!

  2. I wish I’d dragged N off to London for a visit. I feel like I’ve not been for ages, but I know he’d moan unless we took a friend, and that’s a hassle to organise. Love the Paddington mural.
