Friday Focus 11/08/17 – Rain, rain, go away…

It feels like it has done nothing but rain for most of this week. I know that this is typical of a British summer but I am sure the weather wasn’t quite so bad last August. Thankfully the sun has made an appearance again towards the end of this week. I’m not so sure it will last, but hopefully we will see a little more of the sun before summer ends!

The word rain with an umbrella at the end and surrounded by raindrops

We are still waiting for a date for Jessica’s surgery. Part of me is hoping that we get a date soon; part of me is quite happy to not have a firm date – once we have that, the next surgery will start to feel very, very real. For now, we’re trying not to think too much about it and just enjoy the summer holidays as best we can – even if the weather isn’t the best!

Things I have loved this week:

  • A day out at Legoland with hubby and our girls.

Jessica and Sophie watching one of the trains in Miniland at Legoland

  • Watching Jessica and Sophie having fun with their friends at the park.

  • Hubby being home early enough to help with bedtime a couple of days this week.

  • Making paper dolls.

  • Doing some craft activities at Chiltern Open Air Museum.

  • Having an indoor picnic.

  • Putting our wellies and waterproofs on and splashing in puddles.

Jessica and Sophie wearing puddlesuits and wellies and splashing in puddles in the rain

  • Being in the top 50 of the Tots100 index for the first time.

  • A day out at Stonor Park with Grandma.

Jessica and Sophie looking at a map together and sitting in amongst the prehistoric stones at Stonor Park

  • Picking apples, plums and blackberries in Grandma’s garden.

Doesn’t sound like the rain stopped you having fun. Congrats on the under 50. Hope the date comes through before too long, as it must be hanging over you. All that fruit. I’m sure it soon disappeared. #wotw

We have had sun for most of the week and today we have the rain. Lovely photos. It looks like you didn’t let the weather spoil your fun.
Good luck with the appointment for Jessica.
Congrats on the Tots score. I made it into the Top 100 for the first time in a long time.

I hate the rain! I want some sunshine, but I’m seeing little sign of it. Good that you’re all still having a lovely holiday, and congrats on your Tots score x Thanks for sharing with #WotW

It sounds like a great week despite the rain. I’m sorry you are still waiting for Jessica’s operation date to be confirmed. It can be so hard waiting even if you know it’s something you don’t really want to go through. I guess by knowing when it’s going to be done you can focus on the future. x

Tell me about! Desperate for some sun. Yesterday & today have been a bit better. May time always seems better weather wise – not during the summer hols.
At least you all managed to still have some fun.
