Friday Focus 07/06/2024 – Taking it easy

We’ve been taking it easy over the last week – enjoying the last couple of days of the half-term break and spending some time with my mum and my siblings before Sophie and Thomas went back to school.

The words 'Taking it easy' in blue bubble writing

I was quite anxious about Thomas going back to school after our eventful start to the half-term break, but he’s had a good week.

Although we’re back to the usual routine of after-school activities, things haven’t felt quite as hectic as they sometimes can do. Even our busy routine has felt a little easier this week!

I’ve felt more appreciative of the little ordinary moments this week – sitting outside and watching the birds on the bird feeders, listening to Sophie and Thomas giggling together, having cuddles on the sofa, the little chats when walking to and from school.

What I’ve been grateful for this week:

An owl sculpture next to a small waterfall; my brother helping Thomas put gardening gloves on; Sophie and Thomas playing with an aquabox water toy in the garden; a pink 'Pretty Jessica' rose; Sophie and Thomas having a pillow fight with Daddy; me wearing a 'Wind in the Willows' print dress; big red roses in a white vase - "#366daysofgratitude 2024 - Week 23"

  • Day 152 – I am grateful for an interesting walk around a sculpture park.

  • Day 153 – I am grateful for time with my family, catching up with my mum and some of my siblings.

  • Day 154 – I am grateful for the fun moments that we’ve had together over half-term.

  • Day 155 – I am grateful for a quiet day at home.

  • Day 156 – I am grateful for the giggles resulting from a pre-bedtime pillow fight.

  • Day 157 – I am grateful for Popsy dresses – especially as this one was the perfect print for tonight’s launch night for ‘Wind in the Willows’

  • Day 158 – I am grateful for being able to fill Jessica’s vase with roses from the garden.

Other things that have made me smile this week:

  • Watching a couple of video clips of Jessica that my sister had on her phone.

  • Watching Sophie and Thomas having fun together at the park.

Sophie and Thomas on a swing together

  • Meeting a friend for breakfast.

  1. I am glad things have slowed down for you! You have had a busy time of it lately. That is good news that Thomas went back to school OK.
What a lovely week. Your photos did make me smile.

  2. Looks like it was more of a relaxing week. Great that Thomas’s back to school went ok. Love the photos of the 2 of them playing together (Sophie’s rainbow sandals are fab!)

  3. Just perfect to have a quieter week. I love taking time to sit and watch the birds. I remember summer terms at primary school being very busy as teachers seemed to desperately bundle everything in before the end of the year, so making the most of this week is a pretty good idea. Looking at your photos from half term, I can almost hear the giggles. The sculpture park looks intriguing. Hope you have a good week.

  4. It’s nice to have a week when things seem easier. I love your Popsy dress, I’d love to see it in full. I hope next week is good to you too. x

  5. Glad you’ve had an easier week and that Thomas went back to school without any problems. It’s nice to have quieter days

  6. Glad Thomas had a good week.

The pillow fight looks like fun!

Lovely picture of them at the park!
