Friday Focus 06/06/2025 – Calm

After the busyness of half-term, focusing on various shows, it’s been nice to have a calm week this week. I’ve enjoyed having calm time at home to catch up on jobs while Sophie and Thomas have been at school. Our evenings have been quieter too this week as Sophie and Thomas have had a week off from dance lessons after their dance show.

The word 'calm' in blue bubble writing

I was so proud of both Sophie and Thomas performing in their dance show. They both did so well. Thomas was quite bouncy during rehearsals but he focused beautifully during the show itself and joined in with his group dances and read a poem for his solo piece. Sophie was in a lot of dances and danced them all beautifully. I hadn’t seen the group numbers before so it was lovely to watch them being performed and her dance in memory of Jessica had us all in tears. Such a beautiful tribute to her big sister. It was lovely to feel that Jessica was part of the show too. Sophie presented a trophy in Jessica’s memory which was awarded to Thomas’s friend. Both she and Thomas came away with trophies for their performances too. Thomas was awarded the drama trophy and Sophie got two trophies – the all-rounder trophy and a trophy for her professionalism having covered extra bits in the show that needed covering at the last minute.

What I’ve been grateful for this week:

Thomas with his dance friend; Sophie and Thomas in their dance T-shirts; Sophie and Thomas playing in the garden; ripe raspberries on a bush; a red rose with raindrops on it; a flyer for 'Bring It On: The Musical', brown felt with brown foam triangles glued to it - "#365daysofgratitude 2025 week 23"

  • Day 150 – I am grateful for how lovely these two amazing boys are together and how well they both performed tonight in their very first dance show.

  • Day 151 – I am grateful for the joy of watching Sophie and Thomas performing so beautifully in their dance show today. So proud of them both.

  • Day 152 – I am grateful for some chilled out time at home.

  • Day 153 – I am grateful for home-grown raspberries.

  • Day 154 – I am grateful for rain.

  • Day 155 – I am grateful that Sophie will be part of the cast for this year’s summer youth project.

  • Day 156 – I am grateful for felt, foam and a glue gun.

Other things that have made me smile this week:

  • The beautiful flowers that I received as a thank you for helping out with the dance show.

Pink and white flowers in a vase

  • Catch-ups with friends over coffee.
