I seem to have spent a lot of time at church over the last week, having been in the building every day since last Friday for various reasons.

Last Friday was the funeral of one of our church members and I had been asked to play the organ. It was a beautiful service and the church was absolutely packed. I was very relieved that my practising had paid off and I was able to play both hymns with only a couple of minor mistakes (which hopefully weren’t too noticeable!)
Saturday was the Boys’ Brigade coffee morning so Thomas and I popped in for a cuppa and some cake before his swimming lesson. The next morning was our usual Sunday morning service where I was playing the piano and organ. I managed another couple of hymns with full pedals so my organ playing is definitely improving!
One of the church staff members was off this week, so I ended up going in Monday, Tuesday and Thursday to cover the office for the lunch break. I was also on the rota this week to help out with Welcome Wednesdays – our fortnightly drop-in session so was in Wednesday lunchtime as well.
What I’ve been grateful for this week:
- Day 268 – I am grateful for for a beautiful service remembering Ken and for being asked to play the organ. Ken played the organ at my wedding and it was an honour to play for him today. And I even managed pedals and changing stops!
- Day 269 – I am grateful for an evening at the theatre with Sophie watching Frozen.
- Day 270 – I am grateful for the little bouquet of paper flowers that Sophie made for me.
- Day 271 – I am grateful for Lego.
- Day 272 – I am grateful for a gorgeous smelling package from The Soap Mine having treated myself to some of the autumn specials.
- Day 273 – I am grateful for time to sew on some more patches on Thomas’s blanket.
- Day 274 – I am grateful for a catch-up and a chat about shows with a friend over brunch.
