This week has been a very musical one. I’ve been busy with rehearsals for Into the Woods and Doctor Dolittle and organ practice, Sophie has also had rehearsals for Doctor Dolittle plus panto auditions, starting back at her youth theatre group after having a break due to being in Chitty and joining the new musical theatre club at school.
I’ve been getting some extra organ practice in this week as I’ve been asked to play the organ for the funeral of one of our church members, who was the organist at our wedding. I’ve also got an organ lesson booked for just before the funeral so hopefully I can do the hymns justice!
Show rehearsals are becoming much more intense as we get closer to the two show weeks. We’re now at the stage of running whole acts for both shows and seeing all the hard work starting to come together.
Sophie had a successful audition for panto on Sunday and will be joining the cast for Jack and the Beanstalk. Her best friend from panto also got in so she’s looking forward to seeing her again when rehearsals start at the beginning of October. She’s also enjoying the new musical theatre club at school, particularly as they are focusing on Six which is her favourite musical and hoping to put on a production later in the school year.
Thomas has also been quite musical this week, playing the piano and singing to himself on the walk to and from school which is always lovely to hear.
What I’ve been grateful for this week:
- Day 261 – I am grateful for a mid-rehearsal tea break.
- Day 262 – I am grateful for seeing how well Thomas is now progressing in his swimming lessons since moving to one-to-one lessons.
- Day 263 – I am grateful for getting in some organ practice.
- Day 264 – I am grateful for Monday morning walks.
- Day 265 – I am grateful for photos of Jessica popping up in my memories and seeing her beautiful smile.
- Day 266 – I am grateful that Sophie will be part of the junior ensemble again for this year’s Compass Theatre panto.
- Day 267 – I am grateful for pretty sunrises.
Other things that have made me smile this week:
- Catching up with a friend over coffee.
- An evening out at a quiz night – our team came second.
