Friday Focus 19/04/19 – Giving joy for Jessica

19/04/201918/04/2019
The word 'joy' with flowers, a heart and a butterfly

It meant so much last Sunday to see people joining in with #givejoyforjessica and sharing some joy in memory of my beautiful brave girl. We left some chocolate bars at church to be given out with the tea and coffee at the church lunch. It was lovely to see other people joining in too –… Read More

A walk around Charlecote Park

18/04/2019
Sophie standing in front of the gate house at Charlecote Park

I like to break up a car journey with a walk around a National Trust property. It’s much nicer than stopping at service stations and gives us an opportunity to visit places that we might not have otherwise visited. We’re gradually ticking off the ones off the M40 on various journeys to and from Birmingham.… Read More

Siblings – April 2019

16/04/201915/04/2019
Sophie and Thomas sitting in Grandma's garden, with Sophie holding the picture of Jessica

It’s been a year since Jessica died. A year in which Sophie’s position within our family changed dramatically – from little sister, to our only living child, and then to being the big sister. The middle child – yet never having the experience of being the middle child. No longer having her big sister there… Read More

#365daysofgratitude 2019 – Week 15

14/04/201914/04/2019
A paper heart with "Jessica" on it hanging from a tree and #365daysofgratitude

It is a year today since my beautiful daughter Jessica died. The past year has been an incredibly tough one but somehow I have managed to keep finding little things to be thankful for each day. Jessica was a little ray of sunshine – a little girl described as a “joy carrier”. She brought so… Read More

Jessica standing in front of a tree looking out over a big branch - "Country Kids"

Welcome to Country Kids. Country Kids, originally hosted by Fiona at Coombe Mill, is all about sharing outdoor family fun. It was one of the first linkies I joined in when I started my blog four years ago and helped inspire me to enjoy so many outdoor adventures with my girls and create happy memories.… Read More

Friday Focus 12/04/19 – Weathering the storm

12/04/201911/04/2019
The word 'stormy' on a backdrop of dark clouds

As expected, this week has been a stormy one on the grief front. With the memories of ‘this time last year’ becoming increasingly painful and the anniversary of Jessica’s death now just a couple of days away, my emotions have been very up and down. I knew this week would be a tough one. It’s… Read More

Grief and life after Jessica: How do you survive this?

11/04/201910/04/2019
A pink and white heart with "Jessica" written on it hanging in a tree

“How do I survive this?!” It’s a question I’ve screamed out many times over the past year. In those moments when I am blinded by tears, overwhelmed and broken by the pain of life without Jessica, I wonder how on earth I can possibly keep going on. And yet I do. Here I am, almost… Read More
