#365daysofgratitude 2019 – Week 26

Since 2016, I have taken part in a daily gratitude challenge, sharing a photo of one thing I am thankful for each day on Instagram. There have been days when finding little things to be grateful for has been very easy to do and others when it has been incredibly hard. Life as a bereaved parent is quite a rollercoaster at times. There have been many moments when I don’t feel grateful for anything at all – just broken and bruised. However, looking for those little moments has helped me even on the darkest of days. Hard though it may be at times, I have always managed to find something to be thankful for.

My eldest daughter Jessica was an inspiration to me throughout her short life. She had so much strength and such a wonderful zest for life. Her godmother described her once as a “joy carrier” and it was the perfect description for her. She was a little ray of sunshine, full of smiles and gave joy to all who knew her. I am, and will always be, grateful to be her mummy. She taught me to enjoy the little moments and to make the most of everyday because tomorrow is never promised. I continue with this challenge in honour of my beautiful brave girl.

If you would like to join me in a daily gratitude challenge for 2019, do feel free to use the hashtag #LHBL365daysofgratitude2019 on Instagram so I can find your posts there.

Day 174 – I am grateful for the pure joy of water play in the splash park.

Day 175 – I am grateful for the way that Thomas laughs when Sophie plays with him.

Day 176 – I am grateful for Sophie’s love of performing. I was so proud watching her audition for The Sound of Music last night and seeing her perform on stage this morning in her class assembly. She was so happy to hear this morning that she’s been cast as Gretl Von Trapp. Very proud mummy moment!

Day 177 – I am grateful for time just to sit and cuddle this gorgeous baby of mine. Now he’s on the move more he wants to be off exploring so time just to sit and cuddle is becoming increasingly precious. Can’t believe he is eleven months old today. Trying to stop and enjoy this time while he is still a baby – the toddler days are fast approaching!

Day 178 – I am grateful for the stairgate on the living room door keeping this little one contained now that he can crawl forwards as well as backwards and is eager to explore!

Day 179 – I am grateful that my littlest lady has had such a lovely day – from going on her first school trip to taking part in her Girls’ Brigade display. Wish I could have seen her big sister performing next to her this evening. She loved taking part in the display too.

Day 180 – I am grateful to finally have managed to have a sort out of all the stuff in what will be Sophie and Thomas’s room. Just need to order some new units to go in along with Thomas’s cot and it’ll be finished.
