#365daysofgratitude 2019 – Week 15

It is a year today since my beautiful daughter Jessica died. The past year has been an incredibly tough one but somehow I have managed to keep finding little things to be thankful for each day. Jessica was a little ray of sunshine – a little girl described as a “joy carrier”. She brought so many smiles and so much happiness to those who knew her. Today, in her memory, I will be doing my best to #givejoyforjessica and make other people smile because that’s what she did best. I would love it if you would join me and do one little thing to make someone else smile today.

This little gratitude challenge of mine has become a habit now, although there are many days when grief makes it hard to find that gratitude. It has always helped me though, even on the darkest days, to find one little thing that I can be thankful for. There is always something. Life without Jessica is incredibly hard, but I continue with this challenge in honour of my beautiful brave girl. She was an inspiration to me throughout her short life and continues to inspire me to be a better person every day.

Day 97 – I am grateful for little fun family moments and seeing how much my husband enjoys being a big kid and the joy on Sophie’s face when he does so.

Day 98 – I am grateful for Easter gifts for Sophie – love this sweet bouquet!

Day 99 – I am grateful to Halo Children’s Foundation for organising a fun morning at Nets Kingdom at Go Ape Black Park.

Day 100 – I am grateful for cake.

Day 101 – I am grateful for fun creating fairy pictures and catching up with a friend at Iver Environment Centre.

Day 102 – I am grateful for the love and support surrounding us this week.

Day 103 – I am grateful for dandelions providing food for the bees in our garden – and for us. Sophie and I enjoyed baking some yummy dandelion and lemon biscuits today. We thought of how much Jessica liked helping bake cakes and biscuits and how much she would have enjoyed them too.

  1. Jessica’s joy was certainly felt by me and my family today. I popped into Tesco’s and when I came out found a beautiful bouquet of flowers on my windscreen. My two boys were at first confused but as I explained to them the reason behind the flowers it made us all smile. Thank you!

    1. Thank you so much for letting me know that you found the flowers that my friend left. I’m so glad it made you and your boys smile x
