Word of the Week 20/06/14 – Laundry

Being back from holiday means facing an inevitable mountain of laundry.

Laundry - this week's word of the week

Thank goodness for washing machines and good weather. Four people and one fortnight’s worth of laundry has meant my washing machine has been working overtime this week just to get the laundry pile back to more manageable proportions.

The fact that Jessica had a very enjoyable time was quite clear from some of her clothes – the packet of chocolate rice cakes that she discovered in a shopping bag in the back of the car en route to the hotel which then ended up decorating one of her dresses (and the bed in the hotel when she threw herself face first on it on arrival – but washing that wasn’t my problem!); the chocolate ice-cream that had a similar effect and despite my best attempts to soak the offending items as soon as possible, the stains were still apparent and quite stubborn to get rid of.

Now if the ironing fairy could just pay me a visit, that would be just perfect…

  1. It is always payback time when you come back home from holiday, isn’t it? I dread those unpacked bags too. #wotw

    1. Definitely the worst thing about going away. So glad the pile is returning to normal!

  2. Oh yes! I love going away, but as soon as I’m on the way home, I’m calculating the logistics of the laundry! Hope you had a fab time and see the bottom of the pile soon x Thanks for sharing with #WotW

    1. Thank you – yes had a fab time and much happier now that the laundry pile is diminishing. Thanks for hosting #WotW – always a pleasure to join in with it

  3. Ohh no I hate laundry….It’s never ending…..Much worse coming back off holiday though….

  4. I have the same thing in the house. It is nice to do laundry chores as I can dry them easily outside but this also means that I have so much stuff in my ironing tub! So much so that I am very very overwhelmed by them. So please tell the ironing fairy to visit me too =P #wotw

    1. I try to get away with not ironing if I can but the girls’ summer dresses definitely need it! If the ironing fairy does come my way, I’ll ask her to visit you after 🙂

  5. The downside to going away! Hope you had a lovely time away and get all caught up 🙂 #WotW

    1. Thank you – it was a lovely time and the laundry pile is becoming manageable! 🙂

  6. It’s never ending isn’t it? I long for the day I don’t have to run the machine…

    1. It’s the worst thing about coming back – thankfully we’re now back to normal
